True. I'm going for a 33% improvement next week. I reckon we can score 4 goals against Freo. Call me an optimist.Bunk_Moreland wrote:No they didn't, we beat them in R1.saintspremiers wrote:They out scored us. But of course all the talk about them is how well they're improving under Roos.
Which is rubbish if you consider how little number of goals they are kicking as well.

No the right thread. Blaming individual players for our loss as per usual would not of been a positive. The fact that we aren't is a positive from this forumJacks Back wrote:I think you're on the wrong thread.Playon wrote:No one is accountable because we didn't play one on one footy. Re: Positive from today
I have been sitting on beaches for the last three weeks and I am now in a 5 star hotel with a stupid big pool and 30 degree heat every day. Numbed and unable to view any matches. Well except the good quarter of last week. Ignorant bliss.
Re: Positive from today
Bit harsh bob, but yes I do find it odd that the team gets slammed last week for how they kicked it to him, but after they've busted their behinds getting to him today...and...well

I cut Riewoldt enormous slack for that reason - he's never been a great kick for goal but all players have flaws

Re: Positive from today
Positive? We lost by less than Melbourne & Carlton (mind you, they played better teams than North).
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: Positive from today
It's not Roo's kicking that has me scratching my head, it's his handballs, he is average at best, has anyone noticed his handballing ?
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Great get Hal!
And the same will apply to quite a few others whom some Saintsationalists are currently worried about.

Sam Fisher for me. Steadies the back line and gives you confidence with ball in hand.
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Re: Positive from today
One clear positive for me was that we were defensively a lot better.
For the first time in eleven weeks we kept our opposition under 100 points. In that time our opponents have averaged 19 goals a game, North kicked 13.
Our second and fourth quarters somewhat represented a better defensive effort, conceding 4.8 to 2.10. Twelve shots each. It's far from ideal, but keeping a team to four goals in two quarters is an improvement given we average double that against.
You need a solid defence before a solid attack, and that appears to be the focus.
And while our score was poor, our entries and shots were up (had we kicked 15.3 instead of 3.15, we win by a point).
