Coach choices?

Post: # 1477982Post sainters85 »

So obviously we're playing like s**t back to the bottom of the ladder. I've been wondering, why didn't we appoint Mark Williams in the first place, an "experienced", "premiership" coach.. we brought in richo, a new coach to rebuild st kilda.. what happened?

Probably no one wanted to coach St.Kilda of where are future lies for the next 4-5 years.

Choco was keen to but we chose AR, unexperienced to rebuild a st kilda side like this

Coach has nothing to with simple skill errors caused by a lot of players today .

Players have to change it.

If you listened to Ken Hinkley comment on it last year if a skill session went badly . They stopped session and ran & ran.

They will only improve when saints players value their possessions .

Mark Williams is stark raving mad. An absolute nutcase egomaniac. Is that what we need right now?

He is the coach, and is ultimately responsible for getting skills to the required level- and if the players skills are so bad, the they don't get a game. Skills have been rubbish most of the season from experienced to inexperienced players, and don't appear to be improving whatsoever.

You arent going improve skills of players during a year. hard enough to do it over a period of years. he also has to field 22 players so he cant drop all the pporly skilled players. I think what you expect from this coach is unrealistic going by your posts in the last few weeks. Our form wasnt much better last year considering how much better the list was as far as experienced players were concerned.

Was happy with the appointment of AR at the start of the year and despite the many losses we've endured this year, I've been patient because we're rebuilding and I know it's going to be a long way back. I'm not saying sack the coach but I am getting a bit concerned at the way we are losing games. A lot of the losses have been made worse due to the fact that the players don't seem to be applying themselves and AR said the same thing today about the shocker we played.

I can totally accept losing when we bust a gut and just aren't good enough. That's not what I'm seeing at the moment - I see 22 guys out there that don't seem to be playing for the coach and just turn it on when they want to. I'm hoping this is just symptomatic of having a young team and they can't apply themselves for a full game, but having said that, the main culprits seem to be the older guys.

Much too early to make a call on AR but I'm not as confident we have the right man as I was at the start of the year.

PS. Joey needs to be traded out while he still has some currency.....going down the same path as DAL, not interested.
