Why does it matter where we train CW?
Ok Pluggs, I have to finally admit that you must be right on this point.
Hence, I suggest that we train in your front yard... and the backyard when we want to hold a closed training session.
But I must add, that if it wasn't for the generous availability of the Pluggs Ovals (numbers one and two), then 'westy would be correct about Archie.

I cant and thats why I asked you. Surely you keep going on about it so there must be many reasons. I would like to hear them.
How about free agents coming to vic who want to live in this great city but hate driving long distances on our busy freeways in peak hour etc.
Or I guess they could live in seaford and just travel for games/ recovery sessions at stkilda or add an hour and a half each way to any interstate trip.
I know which clubs I'd be looking at and sadly it's not stkilda.
So we train in Seaford meaning no free agents will come to us.

Hawthorn train in Waverly they got Burgoyne, Lake and Gibson.
I would bet that not many of the Hawthorn players live out in Rowville more likely Malvern and Glen Iris etc...
Very few of our guys will live in Seaford but they would live around Brighton, Sandringham, Hampton or other bayside suburbs.
The travelling time would be virtually identical for Hawthorn players and St Kilda players.
The travelling time for Melbourne players would be far worse.
However, according to people on here training in Seaford means we cannot get free agents. The logic is staggering.
Two things.. where the club's business presence is, and secondly where we train. The business and corporate presence should be where we can get maximum exposure to attract sponsors and media and public attention. Where we train is not that important, though if we were based as a club in St Kilda, then there should be occasional training days there with as much media attention as possible, and beat up training as an event to drag in locals (potential members). For most training, it could be anywhere, but on this season's form, we should be training a whole lot bloody harder no matter where it is. I recently drove down near the Saints facility in Seaford at luchtime on a weekday, and saw practically nobody on the streets, few cars driving around, yet if I drive down past the Junction Oval area, there are people on the streets, cars, trams- I know where I would rather have club headquarters.

Firstly if you are going to Seaford via Waverley you need to buy a better GPS. You are lost.
Waverley to the city is a little closer than Seaford to the city, true. But as I said travelling time would be virtually the same.
So unless you are telling me that extra ten minutes is the killer your argument is bogus.

I know this will sound like a made up story but it's not. I applied for two jobs in the last couple of weeks. One would be a 50 minute commute via tram and train, little or no parking. The other is a 5-10 minute walk. There were many factors involved but the commute in my case was a major factor. As it turned out, the decision was made for me.

Probably shouldnt ask this but do you earn $500K? Also why did dal and BJ leave if travel is an issue. lets be honest, if we were a good side we could get anyone if we had the money even if we train at Seaford. Many geelong players live in melbourne. Sandy and Beauy are bloody nice areas and only 25 minutes from seaford.
I guess it's a lot easier to get from home to training when you are a young guy on a very big salary and have a modern luxury car to perform this tedious task..

I don't think anyone is saying location is the only issue, but it would be one of a number of factors. I'm sure Sandy and Beauy are nice but I'm guessing you're not a young single man. All im saying is if youre a young player who is a gun and is moving to melb and has the choice between all the clubs , one of the major factors would be that i dont have to drive 1 hour down the freeway or nepean hwy every day. I would want to live and preferably train in a cool area. So i would be looking at rich, dogs, north, pies or carl. Of course if your talking about competing for a premiership then hawks are pretty appealing as well.
If i could live in a cool suburb like stkilda / elwood/ sth melb etc and walk to training or recovery or edihad or the g and train in fitzroy st stkilda , well thats a great lifestyle and could be the difference in choosing the saints.
Its prob hard for some people to get their head around the fact that a player on massive money wouldnt take any club no matter what .

When you get drafted you have no right to a "lifestyle". You sign your life over to the club and the club basically own you.
"Abstinence is easier than moderation".
Anyway, they have no choice as they are drafted.
Rent is also a lot cheaper in the outer suburbs.

St Pav is right. Do you realise how often players go out these days. Bugger all is the answer and im sure if they need to they will catch a cab either way. One will cost $20 and the other $50. Im sure they can afford either.
Seaford is such a non issue !
In five years time there will be no player's left who where based at moorabbin .
Good young players coming to the club are happy to be drafted
Good older players are coming to the club for the money , so i don't think they'd care where they train as long as they get there rent paid friday !
