Re: Jack Billings Rising Star
Jack has a very strong sense of Ian Stewart both in his precision left foot kicking and his vertical leap in packs. I look forward to many years of enjoyment watching Jack play footy for the saints.

Didn't know Jack was as physically and mentally mature as Selwood... Or more importantly walking into a team which he won more than 80 of his first 100 games....
But anyway

I'm not one to put all my eggs in one basket... but Billings is the sole saviour of the St Kilda footy club.
He'll be turning games on their heads very shortly. Just needs a mate or two, and Saints will be back baby!
I love how he wants and expects to win.
If Acres comes on... what a draft!

Re: Jack Billings Rising Star
I thought they would rest the young players a lot this year but perhaps that is old school thinking. The sport science of recovery is so good these days. They put a premium on getting games into the quality players. Nothing is better experience and fitness training than 2 hours of AFL footy. I noticed in the Geelong game they were hammering into Billings a bit because they know how dangerous he is. But even that's a good learning curve as he learns to ride the bumps or get on his bike to get away from them.PurpleHayes wrote:Rest assured that Richo, Pelchen and co will no way overcook Billings this year.
They moreso than all of us will know hie true worth and potential and will tread very carefully each week.
I suppose playing in a fwd pocket/flank means he get through a bit more unscathed than say a Dunstan.
Funny thing - I can't remember seeing Billings tackled heavily or bumped hard this year? Just seems to be in the right spots at the right times and avoids the hard hits perhaps? Can anyone comment on this?

Re: Jack Billings Rising Star
If Billings and Dunstan can be ranked within the top 5 of the 2013 draft then we have done very, very well
Re: Jack Billings Rising Star
First-year St Kilda forward Jack Billings was the league's most efficient player when targeted inside 50, with 76.5 per cent of the Saints' forward entries directed to classy youngster leading to a score (not necessarily kicked by Billings).
Others to emerge with high conversion rates in the category, which was based on a club's top five targets, included Gold Coast's Harley Bennell and Bulldog Luke Dahlhaus (60 per cent), Essendon's Patrick Ryder (58.6 per cent) and Tiger Ben Griffiths (55.6 per cent).

Re: Jack Billings Rising Star
Bloody outstanding - 76.5% is far and away the best and objectively excellent. Now we just need to find him more often.Old Mate wrote:First-year St Kilda forward Jack Billings was the league's most efficient player when targeted inside 50, with 76.5 per cent of the Saints' forward entries directed to classy youngster leading to a score (not necessarily kicked by Billings).

Which confirms what many of us have been saying for a while that he is an outstanding user of the ball and a good decision maker.

Re: Jack Billings Rising Star
Yea those stats are outrageous. Kick it to Billings and three out of four times it ends in a shot at goal.
