Mav definitely a highlight in an otherwise awful day so far.evo wrote:Mav Weller probably our best player.
Hope Jack changes the boots at half time. Losing the ball like that - twice - is soul destroying for everyone. And Hope Saunders ok; 2 pretty hard knocks already.
Defenders look ok when ball is pinging in like a volleyball, but not accountable for their men when there is actually time to set up.
C'mon Saints! We can lift. We have to.

Re: Match Thread - cats v saints
I know this was commented on during the week by SainterK but I am wondering just how much confusion the players are coping with
With less than 1 minute to go, you get that centering Bruce kick to Roo intercept mark - it was a brave kick simply Stokes was quicker than roo - ok I can accept that
But at the following center bounce Clint Jones is on the wing trying to cover two geelong players - then he picks Motlop up - throughout the year I have seen him trying to cover several players at the same time
Either the message is confused or some players are just not pulling their weight - (hey Joey)

agree mag
it's all the coaches fault the whole thing yep sack him, players doing exaclty what he told them to do before the bounce.

Re: Match Thread - cats v saints
Can someone provide the details of the lee trade?
It was pick 12 for lee and a couple of picks back that netted us wright? And ?
And if that is the case who was taken with pick 12
Also did we trade our pick 13 (Goddard comp) for hickey and some picks back in the same draft??
So I'm interested who went pick 12 & 13 in that draft and the details on the above deals please.
Sorry I know this has been done to death

Everyone's whining because we are in an elite comp paying players 95% of what Geelong are
And are playing 10% as good
Giving an excuse of accepting be hopeless... Leads to Uncompetitiveness

I never get why it matters who went in picks clubs trade because we may have picked 2 completely different players.

Re: Match Thread - cats v saints
Let's see we won some, but if we played those teams now, Melbourne would beat us by at least 8 goals, and we would be lucky to kick 8 goals against them, GWS would beat us by about the same margin, as for the Bummers, well ASADA might give us the slight edge there now.Bunk_Moreland wrote:How were we going in the first four week with a backline and young players like Wright, Templeton, and Geary playing this gameplan?3rd generation saint wrote:Have we come close to winning playing this style in the last 7 weeks?Bunk_Moreland wrote:So you want to be beaten by 200 points a match?3rd generation saint wrote:That will happen this week the way things are going.Bunk_Moreland wrote:So you want to get beaten by 140 points every week?3rd generation saint wrote:Once again we have a non-existent forward line. Everytime we go forward we are outnumbered 2 to 1, every friggin' time.
I'm sick of this stupid game plan, how about telling our forwards to stay forward so we actually have someone to kick it to when we get the ball.
This us looking like Hawthorn all over again.
I would rather we play man on man and forget about zones and other tactics, keep it friggin' simple.
The way things are going I don't if I'm going to a win before 2016.
Hell, teams are now resting players to play against us with no fear of any consequences, our play is predictable, one dimensional and so easy to defend, not hard to get a kick when you are 2 or more on 1, because that's what happens if we even get the ball past the centre.
By the time we master Port's style of play, it will be out dated.
We need some massive recruiting coups come October to even be competitive next year.
The problem all those teams we beat, have improved significantly, we haven't, we have gone backwards a long way. We are rock bottom and there is a fair margin between us and the next worse side in the league right now.
Just glad I didn't spend the money to go down there this afternoon. We have a long way to go, and it is going to take 3-4 years to get anywhere near where we need to go.
Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

You have no idea, suggest after the game you google the difference between those terms and hows they are used. If been on my "high horse" means that I will call out objectionable comments then bad luck, because I will keep doing itclarky449 wrote:Get of your high horse.. So based on that no side should ever lose by more than about 10%

Coach is going nowhere.
He is asking players to take the game on but due to size and skill many are not capable.
Either they learn and improve or show them the door.

Remarkable. So you want them to play man on man and disregard the coaches instructions to zone in defence?falka wrote:Still fascinating meBunk_Moreland wrote:Fascinatingfalka wrote:Oh look a mark 5 m in front of opponent and another mark in 50. How bad is this
the defensive structures are OK, it is the players ability to do it that is the problem

Re: Match Thread - cats v saints
The club needs some heat put on it this week. Alright to be rebuilding, but the side that runs out needs to play to an AFL standard and have pride. Most of this group is not playing with any pride at the moment apart from Hayes as usual, you won't see him dropping his head
Bring back the Lockett era
Re: Match Thread - cats v saints
Mate I'm not stupid I know you zone but there comes a time where your opponent leads and you stay on his arse when it's 30m from goal.Bunk_Moreland wrote:Remarkable. I just wanna see some passion for the jumper and interest in being out there.
So based on that we are following coaches instructions perfectly? Is that one we are getting right?
This is passionless crap

How is it that with all our players in our defensive half and yet geelong seem to take uncontested marks every time they go forward?!!
Sainter for life.
