Re: changes for next week
Most here dropping Stanley have not mentioned who our back up ruckman is going to be, maybe a rethink there.
Very easy to say oh drop so and so, they have to have a like for like replacement
For mine I think we keep playing Stanley

Webster did not play in the scratch match.borderbarry wrote:Out...1. Delaney If he doesnt come up after hip injury. 2. Jones. 3. Schneider. 4. Stanley.
In... 1. Simpkin or Roberton, whichever played better in the scratch match.
2... 2, Armo. Sorely missed.
3.... Webster, if he showed any form at all in the scratch match.
4... Lee. 5 in the scratch match. Goal kicker badly needed.

Lee can pinch hit in the ruck. Not a superstar in that role, but then again neither is Stanleyterry smith rules wrote:Most here dropping Stanley have not mentioned who our back up ruckman is going to be, maybe a rethink there.

Are you kidding? 194cm same height as Sam Gilbert, should make for some interesting ruck contestsbigcarl wrote:Lee can pinch hit in the ruck. Re: changes for next week
If that's true it doesn't seem right that a guy so woefully out of form gets to stay in.Con Gorozidis wrote:Stanley is undroppable while Hickey is out.

Stanley would be dropped if I were selecting
To send an effort message.... I wouldn't care if Schnieder was the back up Ruckman

Thank Heavens you're OK Big Mart.
You stopped mid sentence in the Hickey thread and I was afraid something may have happened to you!

Re: changes for next week
Thanks for the update on Armo' Mart. At our current stage, I say don't play any bloke till he's completely over any injury. For that reason, as much as I'm a Tom Lee fan, I'm very reluctant to play him till he's had a chance to build up strength and fitness... and I'm not sure that he has...?BigMart wrote:Armo limped into Auskick Sat morning was great with the kids but moved no better than me after a game, all the time wearing a mattress around his knee clearly visible under his Trackies .... He's no cert.
My team
B: Dempster ....... Simpkin ......... Curran
HB: Shenton........ Bruce ............ Murdoch
C: Ray ................. Hayes .......... Newnes
HF: Milera ............ Riewoldt ........ Montagna
F: Siposs .............. Lee ............... Billings
Foll: longer.............. Weller .......... Steven
Int: Ross ........... ... Dunstan .......... Dunnell
Sub: Schnieder
In Lee, Simpkin, Dunell
Out Stanley, Delaney (inj), Jones
Res
Roberton
Webster
Saunders, Jones, Savage, Stanley
Minchington
Maister
Pierce
Very thin...
And in that vein, good to see you aren't risking Delaney, and have replaced him with Tom S and not Roberton's dodgy ankle.
But... second ruckman Mart? Again, putting on my Tom Lee fan hat, I reckon he can pinch hit in the ruck surprisingly well, but again, I'm not sure his body is ready...? I've finally all but given-up on Rhys Lightning, but I'd still play him for the rest of the year to give him every opportunity to show something to show me to be wrong... so I wouldn't be dropping him.
Lenny, Dunstan, Weller and wet-week Seb in the one side against that Nought Power mid field Mart? Are you sure? I reckon we need Flint Jones' speed. If you must drop Flint, then surely bring in the pace and tenacity of Saunders..., maybe even the, uh, sorta' pace of Savage...? (I want Dunny to get a good run, but he ain't too quick either, so not sure this is the Saint's side to add him into...?)
Schneiderman to be placed on-notice IMHO... and starting as the sub is a good move in that regard I reckon.
It's Dave, man. Will you open up? I got the stuff with me! -------Who?

Re: changes for next week
Re Stanley...... Pearce had a good game at the weekend. He would not need many more good games before he came into contention.

I dont think pierce is replacing Stanley just like i dont think once Hickey is fit he is replacing Stanley. Stanley does ruck but he is picked as a forward. Seen nothing to suggest Hickey, Longer or Pierce could play as forwards. If Stanley goes we either ruck one player or find someone in the side who can give the player a short rest.

Seems so!
I am guessing when they sat down on Monday morning and watched the replay - they just thought some of those efforts where he just watched his opponent get the ball and didnt even try for the ball were just too much to let slide.

Yep, and if you pay attention, you may notice someone say... "I was wrong"BigMart wrote:Stanley is not undroppable it seems
You should give it a whirl sometime, it's quite cathartic.
Re: changes for next week
I'm pretty sure I wasn't wrong on this occasion?
Think the ins I predicted were pretty close...

Give us a hug.
Mine were
Out: Schneider, Stanley, Jones, Ross
In: Saunders, Lee, Markworth, armitage
Shame Armo isn't ready, what a terrible random injury that was.
