Given up on 2914 already Jiggster?
I know what you mean though. Get 20 games into our kids, grab a couple more gooduns in the draft and have a half decent run with injuries. Bring it on!

Yeah, have been thinking in the last couple of weeks that this season couldn't end any sooner. Am more curious to know what's install for us in the future rather than the tedium of the present, that is now and what is left of the 2014 AFL season.
Curb your enthusiasm - you’re a St.Kilda supporter!!

Yep me too BS......... even tho I shouted a few profanities at the telly a couple of weeks back when Blake Acres made some clangers that resulted in goals.Bernard Shakey wrote:Very happy to watch the young blokes develop this year!
Gotta love The Blake................ we stuck by the other Blake for years......... why not this one
Jiggster............ you are a gem my man. A 10 pound pom (me thinks) and you have more passion and loyalty for the Saints than many born, bred and fed on our game.
Keep up the passion Jigging One

Re: Ready for 2015? I am!
Our lack of support around the younger players this year is not development its torture! God bless any one elses sons that get selected by our club in future years! If the Saints were an ordinary work place exposing under developed kids to the risks we do they would be shut down by the Work Health Authorities!Bernard Shakey wrote:Very happy to watch the young blokes develop this year!

Re: Ready for 2015? I am!
I'm still a bit worried about the actual number of 'kids' that are going to have decent games tallies chalked up by seasons end...barring injury and form slumps...
1. Newnes will be early to mid 40's
2. Webster mid 30's
3. Curren mid 20's
4. Dunstan 20 or so
5. Billings mid t0 late teens
6. Longer round 20ish
7. Hickey 30's
8. Wright teens
9. Saunders 20ish
10. Acres - not many
11. Bruce - hopefully close to mid 20's
12. Siposs - 30's
13. Shenton - mid teens at best
To hard to predict...Murdoch, T.Lee, Markworth
I guess you have to start somewhere, and time will tell how this projection goes with a climb up the ladder.

Yeah I don't think we're going to be any better for a few years yet. 50 - 80 games before these guys can compete consistently with the best.Saint wagga wrote:I'm still a bit worried about the actual number of 'kids' that are going to have decent games tallies chalked up by seasons end...barring injury and form slumps...

Football in 2914.
There will be no stadiums as we know of today.
You will enter a room that will be set up just like a current day private box.
The glass in front of you will be a screen that has virtual reality, from players to umpires, goal post and crowds.
No real people, as former players took the AFL to court for old injuries,
and contact sport is no longer allowed to be played.
The people in the box (you and friends) will be the selectors, coaches and even umpires, if you choose.
For those who want to put on some boots, this will also be possible after a waiver is signed.
They will also be able to watch videos of the good old days when there was enough land on our planet to have real football grounds,
real players and umpires before the icebergs melted and reduced the amount of land.
I can just see it now, a descendant of Stinger will be driving his boat to the football and he will say,
“There is no global warming, someone just forgot to pull out the plug.”
If you think this is unbelievable, just imagine telling someone 50 years ago at the pub
that at the start 21st century football will be played on a ground……….
and by the way………the ground will have a roof.
They would have said that you have had too much to drink.

Re: Ready for 2015? I am!
By the time these kids get to 50-70 games
Hayes, Fosher, Schnieder, Montagna Riewoldt, Dempster will be gone
In my mind
That is probably 4 of the top 6 in the current B&F and Schnieder was probably Bog Vs Ess.
So to think in 2015/16 we are going to be better than now.... Is not a fair accompli
Are Newnes, Dunstan, Billings etc... Going to develop to the point (at that stage) where they not only fill there boots, but automatically advance us up the ladder
Remember
We are not the only team with young developing players

Re: Ready for 2015? I am!
2015 will be good as long as we don't get another run of 4-6 month injuries to handy players. Need to be on the lookout for another big mobile forward, backman and a mature midfielder.

What do you mean good? Surely we have to finish bottom 4, maybe even bottom 2 with Brisbane.

Realistically, if we have a better run of injuries, next year could be better in the wins column and hopefully less of these car crash halves or quaters where we get cut to ribbons...In my mind, I'd love to see Lenny go around again, and think that only he, Roo and Joey along with Dempster would be the automatic senior selections...Guys like Jones, Schneids, FIsher, even Gilbert, Gwilt, Ray need to be phased out, either because there injury prone or just not part of our next team that challenges...clearly guys like Schneids and Fisher are A graders, but due to injury profile, if we keep 'banking' on the these playing close to full seasons and moaning when they are out, we are kidding ourselves, because the next generation needs to pushing thru...weather that happens more consistently in the back half of this year and next year, i'm not too sure...
As for other clubs having youngsters coming thru, totally agree...i mean the improvement trajectory of just about every other team in the bottom 8 will be hoping for improvement, it comes down to the coaching develpoment, and the potential of the cattle, simple as that...lets hope Pelchen and co...have and keep getting it right...oh, and through in some brought in talent with our salary cap space, think thats not due till 2016 according to Pelchen if I rmember correctly...

Exactly. That's why as long as all the injured players are back for finals time we'll be right.spert wrote:We could still make the finals this year...couldn't we?plugger66 wrote:spert wrote:2015 will be good as long as we don't get another run of 4-6 month injuries to handy players. There is the slight issue of winning enough games to make the 8, but details, I hate details!
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

4 of our best 6 players a year older and nearly done?!
Who replaces Roo?
Steven replaces Montagna.... Who replaces Steven
Armo replaces Hayes.... Dunstan replaces Armo

Billings replaces Schnieder
