its only a few on here that think he is not worth a spot.gringo wrote:Dave McNamara wrote:For all his noted shortcomings, Flint Jones showed in that first quarter why he gets a game.
When we were in a bit of disarray early on, he steadied the ship through sheer tenacity.
I agree outstanding effort.
commentators see his value - his work rate - he often has to cover a couple of players with 1-2-3rd efforts

Re: Carlton Game Thread
It's a shame even tho we were down I felt we were playing better than we did against Brisbane and certainly better than against the hawks but I think we are too far down now and the umps aren't doing us any favours

Absolutely getting smashed in midfield. I guess Alan Richardson is going to find out the hard way that James Gwilt is finished as an AFL footballer. Getting nothing from Siposs and Steven.

Umpiring at absolute disgrace. Schneider decision one of the worst of the year. Now I have to listen to Maclure.

I hate blaming the umps. Certainly they haven't caused our poor disposal. But FFS, how many free kicks inside 50 have we not got tonight? And I ask you, WTF was jimmy Webster supposed to do?
We had some momentum and it was killed dead in 3 minutes.

Re: Carlton Game Thread
Need to do the basics like mark the ball, put some pressure on their ball handlers so that their disposal starts to suffer and the game can turn easily. Right now we still seem to cough it up. I would like to have more one on one footy. If Carton play 2 on Nick get another one down there next to him but we need to contest the midfield without turnovers to allow the team to play a 7 man forward.
Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.
You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

Re: Carlton Game Thread
It's groundhog day with the umpires. Whilst we can continue to happily take it up the a$$ it will continue, pathetic.
To many players not up to AFL standard no matter how much promise they showed 3-4 years ago.
Acres making error after error but he's having a crack the kid,and can lay a tackle. He show's more intensity in a half of footy than what Stanley and Siposs have in there career

Re: Carlton Game Thread
Umpires have directly cost us a minimum of 5 goals with poor frees for and missed ones our end.

Can't believe Jack Steven is the sub. Should improve when he comes on. Siposs will also be good when he gets a chance.

Re: Carlton Game Thread
At ground. Losing voice. Umpires creating their momentum but seriously how Webster is free against and Schneiders is play on is beyond me. Can anyone explain why acres didn't get 100 meters - they kicked ball away then wrestled including high contact????
