CityWest IS a Saint
Some on Saintsational have been convinced that NexusNick / CityWest is an essendon supporter dressing himself up as a Saint to post on here. They have been convinced by a decade of relentless accusation that was not (and never was) based in fact.
Today I had a long and enjoyable phone call with CityWest.
He is definitely a Saint supporter.
He is a victim of a vendetta created because of two incidents in particular in the past that another poster used to relentlessly paint NexusNick / CityWest as a trolling Essendon supporter - but mistly was a throw back to NexusNick admiring an Essendon come from behind win more than a decade ago - in the context of wanting the Saints to show similar fight at the time.
There is no doubt that he has held his views on crucial issues that faced the club (tasmania being one - to the point he asked question at the AGM after we announced our withdrawel) and he continues to try to think out of the box or left field but his ideas and thoughts are not meant to bait supporters but are posted to open discussion - to float views and get feedback on his thoughts.
I have suggested that he consider pre-empting further posts like this with a warning like "I know this is not everyone's opinion" or "I know many will disagree but" or even "here is a left field idea ..."
Finally, let it be known that calling CityWest an Essendon supporter is a false accusation and viewed as a bait and thus a warning. Of course any abuse (as it is with any poster) is also a breach of rules and a warning.

An announcement sticky, really? Get rid of this SImon, seriously, it's not what this function is for.
In response though:
Why would this person claim to not know who Nexus Nick/Helen is, then claim to have questions from them?

They may well "barrack" for St Kilda, but clearly most of their posts are deigned to insight, bait and plain upset people on here. The posts are generally either abusive towards our players, repeatedly suggesting we trade out all of our good players or that we should try to re-locate.
I don't really care how good your phone conversation was today, this person has been banned under different names for good reason.

Perhaps it was because he posted a series of highly controversial or just downright offensive posts under a string of "Nexus" related ID's.BackFromUSA wrote:He is a victim of a vendetta created because of
His confrontational behaviour led to him getting repeatedly banned.
Then he would bob up later with another nexus ID and post more rubbish.
He may fool some, but definitely not all.

Hi Simon, just wondering, does this mean that multiple aliases are ok once again?
Nexus: ˈnɛksəs/ (noun)
a connection or series of connections linking two or more aliases.

Re: CityWest IS a Saint
Dragit - it is an announcement because it relates to the implementation of rules and serves as a warning to all not to bait / abuse a certain poster - especially based on some myths and mistruths perpetuated over time.
At times his posts have been controversial but in recent history he has posted nothing far off the mark from the opinions of some fans. His postings of his ideas have been of some merit and worthy of discussion and respectful debate. Disagree - then debate the ISSUE!
If I warned posters for bagging our players - there would be nobody left on the forum - this place is here in cyberspace to vent - so if Jones can't kick, Savage doesn't put his head over the ball, Billings misses easy shots, Gilbert has brain fades, Gwilt is slow as an Ox, Riewoldt is too selfish and demands the ball or serves up a spray to teammates, or Fisher fails to prepare himself properly as a 30+ year old footballer then posters can post that and others can post in response some positives.
Enrico_Misso - moderation is on present behaviour and not past behaviour - the post is moderated not the poster but it is the poster that is warned / banned. Even banned posters are allowed to return and will not be warned / banned again if they reform their posting style to comply with the rules. If they don't then they will be warned / banned again. 3 bans in one year constitutes a permanent ban.
Dave McNamara - multiple sign ins / aliases are not permitted however as far as i am aware CityWest only has one current sign in and posts under just that sign in. We are all allowed to have past names ... I was AwayInUSA once

Re: CityWest IS a Saint
While I agree with your sentiment here of reducing abuse, the fact is that this person has been banned permanently for trolling on here a number of times, only to resurface under different names… which I would suggest completely defeats the purpose of a permanent ban? I think "St Nick" was another alias of manyBackFromUSA wrote:Dragit - it is an announcement because it relates to the implementation of rules and serves as a warning to all not to bait / abuse a certain poster - especially based on some myths and mistruths perpetuated over time.

I don't mind CityWest posting here, or your request for less abuse in general, but a sticky requesting respect for a person who is meant to be permanently banned through repeated trolling I find offensive.
If Stinger & Plugger get permanently banned, will it be okay for them to just create a new account like this person has?

I certainly see your point.
However I can certainly also see how the unrelenting campaign against Nexus_Nick / CityWest (under his old sign in names) over a period spanning 12+ years may have influenced not only posters opinions but also the opinions of moderators from time to time - especially moderators that had friendships and affiliations with the aggressors against nexus_nick / citywest ... and I have NO available measure to see whether those bans were truly warranted (even the moderator notes don't go back that far) and as such I am only judging on present NOT past.
So here it is:
If ANYONE breaches rules in their posts, whether it be citywest, you, Stinger, Plugger66, SaintPav, me, MrMagic, BigMart, JoffaBoy ... and the list goes on - and apologies for anyone else that wanted to be included on this lsit ... then they will receive a WARNING and 3 warnings blah blah.
It is equal for all.
The post NOT the poster is reviewed for breaches / warnings.
Simple advice to all ... DON'T breach rules.
That includes CityWest.

Re: CityWest IS a Saint
I have a few questions about this topic but I will start with this one:
So BFUSA you claim the following:
multiple sign ins / aliases are not permitted however as far as i am aware CityWest only has one current sign in and posts under just that sign in
How are you so convinced, how do you satisfy yourself of this point?
The reason for my curiosity is you recently argued that a voting system similar to system we use for player voting could not work because of multiple sign ins /aliases.
It now seems you have a system to control the multiple sign ins /aliases.

I have been on this forum a long long time....and have also scanned through Bigfooty from time to time.
Needless to say my memory of what has occurred over time is substantially different to the OP.
Both forums have been subject to a serial pest, over a sustained period of time, would be the kindest way to view it. Whether they support Efc or not is immaterial....it was the continual twaddle that was posted on two forums that gained the poster their reputation.
Perhaps the leopard has changed his spots..perhaps some forumites lost patience and bated the baiter in the past. However painting this particular forumite as a victim. ... is a travesty of the word.

Re: CityWest IS a Saint
Hey BFUSA, can I just ask about the "Your warning level" number when you click on "User Control Panel"?
There is a number in brackets, I know that if you get 3 warnings in a week you get a ban, but do they accumulate over a year/years for some other purpose? What does this warning level mean?

I think in the name of transparency it would be appropriate if BFUSA could reference some posts of Citywests that support the claims he is the victim and also demonstrate that there was some actual research of posts and not just accepting that Citywest is the victim based on conversation during said "long and enjoyable phone call".

Can you have 2 warnings every week for a year? Or are there a certain amount in a year which also leads to consequence?
I'm not trying to push the boundaries here, just want us all to have a good understanding of the rules.

Some very interesting responses above.
Rather than respond individually:
- I am not exonerating him from poor posts of the past
- I am saying (as with everyone) he will be moderated on his future posts
- I am saying he has been portrayed falsely as an Essendon supporter and I have established this as false
- I am saying that those that continue to taunt him as an Essendon supporter will receive a warning for baiting

All of which is both logical and fair. But I fear you will forever have to justify it to those who are neither and who only see the world in terms of their own views which almost always includes conspiracy theories. The same people seem to have unlimited time to prosecute their views in the hope that persistence will some how exhaust more reasonable proponents. I admire your patience.BackFromUSA wrote:...

I guess when you make a song & dance about a young player being a dud & the worst player in the history of the club, or you call a young guy a gumby or post the following about one of our greatest players of all-time…
b.t.w - now that we are all clear that citywest is bona fide sainter, can we please get rid of this announcement sticky?
It's just not reasonable to expect people to just forget this stuff… and when these players perform well, you will get reminders. Same goes for me with Jones. If the criticisms were kept to constructive then people would have no ammo to fire back.citywest wrote:If I was one of the players I would lead a mutiny against him.
