Milera
We lack outside run and goals.
He has been one for the best for Sandy all year.
What more can he do to get a game?
Supposedly the side is picked on form and effort but at the moment it seems that you get in based on how much you get paid and whether Pelchen rates you - rather than actual real life form and effort.
In short Milera is more deserving of games than Savage.

Like. He's paid his dues. Performed well and kicked very important goals at Sandy. Time for another shot.Con Gorozidis wrote:We lack outside run and goals.

Re: Milera
Milera is the class that we need !
Unfortunately at AFL level when we don't have the ball , He is like a witches hat on the field .
I hope he gets a chance !
he just needs to lift his off the ball work rate .

Re: Milera
Sandy's season has been going really well so far. Probably best to not interfere with their team chemistry.

Re: Milera
Tezza 24 disposals, 6 tackles, 2 goals.
I think he has only had one poor game this year?
I think hes been in the best 4/5 games.

He's a decent player at VFL level. Let him finish his career on a high note.Con Gorozidis wrote:Tezza 24 disposals, 6 tackles, 2 goals.

Re: Milera
Sick of selectors keeping their favourites in the seniors.
How LONG did it take for Maister to get dtopped.
I don't care how well Savage does on the track, on game day either deliver or move aside for someonr else who HAS the hunger.
"Oh, he played well twice against us" does not cut it.
In a top team, he got a lot of assistance.
Won't happen now.
It's on HIM to HELP and lift in a developing team without Hodge/Mitchell/Rioli/Roughead etc
or disappear into the Zebras.
Heavy lifting needed. Not up to it? Bye bye

Re: Milera
Rather have Milera in the side than either Savage or Jones. We need his run and carry. We have hardly any at the moment.

No reason why he shouldn't get a run this week. After yesterday, we have to make some changes.

Re: Milera
Terry and Shenton should both get games. TDL would even have some claims where we lack goal scoring options. He seems to rate players who have both way games. Shenton is a rebounding defender who kicks goals and runs and spreads. Should be a lock. Terry and TDL seem to have improved that area of their games. Rooey can't kick our scores every week.

Re: Milera
I reckon Milera would have to come back to AFL level and play like Gary Abblett to avoid having his papers stamped.
Unless things have changed he seems like a world beater at VFL level but looks very meek at AFL level.
Will be very happy to be proven wrong.

How good was that long bomb with the wind that bounced (or rolled) through to win the game?8856brother wrote:Like. He's paid his dues. Performed well and kicked very important goals at Sandy. Time for another shot.Con Gorozidis wrote:We lack outside run and goals.

He's always had good skills.
The concerns were
- his strength (gets pushed off the ball too easily)
- his defensive game (used to be very poor)
- work ethic (not big on chasing)
But seems a better all round player this year.
Better option than TDL.

Re: Milera
You may be right. He did play some decent footy in the AFL and some poorer footy in a weak side last year.Cairnsman wrote:I reckon Milera would have to come back to AFL level and play like Gary Abblett to avoid having his papers stamped.

But I cant help feeling life is a bit unfair. I dont think Terry is a worse player than Savage yet Savage is on a thre year well paid contact amd Tezza is heading for the chop.
I mean lets just say you parachuted Tezza in to a side like the Hawks - hed look like a star if he could get loose and get on the end of some of the hawks play. Hes the kind of guy that would go well in a good side. A bit like Savage .
Wish we had tezza in 2009 or 10.
Its a cruel old world sometimes. Sigh.

Re: Milera
Absolutely Con but I reckon it will be really interesting to see how some players go in the Hawks team if their largish 30 something brigade start to drop out of the team...sound familiar. They've just lost Mitchell and if they lose Hodge then then that starts to really make it harder for the B graders as obviously the best defensive players and taggers have weaker players to control...Cyril would struggle IMO. Another example was Kerr for the Eagles, when Judd and Cousins departed he then become the number one banana and really didn't get off the leash too much. Outside receivers are great in a strong team but not sure ours can work with too many at the moment.Con Gorozidis wrote:You may be right. Re: Milera
Agree Cairnsman. Id say some of the Hawks everyone thinks are good outside players like say Hill and Suckling would struggle in a weaker team. Mitchell, Hodge, Burgoyne and Lewis have been massive for that club and have made other guys look like stars.

Re: Milera
I haven't been a big fan of Milera thus far, but the bloke definitely deserves a shot.
The one thing Watters did right was give players a shot in the firsts if they showed something in the twos.
