Senior players have been poor. Absolutely no leadership. The selection of Clinton jones continues to baffle me. Opposition clubs concede possession to him as they know that he will end up turning it over. Why do we keep playing him?

As bad as last week when we lost to the worst side in the competition. This has been a disgrace so far. Imagine if the conditions were ideal? It's not worth thinking about. Very, very disappointing.

Had about a 10 minute period there where we were doing ok. They are the best for a reason. Giving us a total bath

Not at all but when we dont get a blatant free kick in our forward line that should have been paid when they have had 3 or 4 themselves then I get a little miffed no matter what the friggin scoremullet wrote:Seriously , blaming umpires?????Devilhead wrote:Gibson drops the ball after having prior time - nothing

Re: Saints v Hawks match day thread
Geary has the 6th most disposals up to half time and he only played one qtr....
So we have about 16 passengers/non-contributers
Newnes, Savage, Saunders barely touched the ball.
Schneider done nothing and Roo barely been near it.

Re: Saints v Hawks match day thread
Horrible uncompetitive effort from the Saints, regardless of the quality of Hawthorn. Hard to pick a good Saint player- impressive effort from Acres compared to his more experienced team-mates, Newnes trying, Webster trying, Jones, Ray and Hayes running around in circles but not getting enough of the pill- shocking midfield performance, and appears they have been told not to tackle or get near their opponents (tongue-in-cheek). I was looking forward to a good competitive game, but this is rubbish.

First scoreless quarter in three years. With two minutes to go we hadn't been inside fifty once.

Re: Saints v Hawks match day thread
Poured almost the whole quarter, very hard to get the pill but when we did we butchered it.
Has stopped raining here now, so with any luck we might actually trouble the scorer next half.
Blake Acres looks good. Much bigger body than anticipated, and a decent kick.
Come ON Saints!

Saunders was sub, and only came on in the 2nd quarter, and he's already had 6 touches.Con Gorozidis wrote:Geary has the 6th most disposals up to half time and he only played one qtr....

And with barely any inside 50's, I'm not surprised Roo hasn't had it much.

Am enjoying watching Webster - straight ahead, hard at it and great ball handling skillsspert wrote:Horrible uncompetitive effort from the Saints, regardless of the quality of Hawthorn. What would we do without Gwilty. As usual the Rock of Gilbralta in defence, has pace and great skills. Also Clint Jones awareness and pin point passing is a pleasure to watch. I'm sure the Hawk supporters are revelling in having these two players helping their cause.

Just a reality check, fellas. That we are a bottom 3
team, and playing the top team in AFL.
People say the wet conditions evens it out. But
it doesn't seem like it. Hawthorn players can still
Kick, handball and mark without much fumbling
If anything, it accentuate our lack of skills. Players who
can't kick like Jones, Ray just been made looked worse.
They just keep putting our teammates under pressure,
I say replace them with some skills soon. Would rather
see Ross, or Milera from the 2s.
This is about our level. Hawthorn is just a phenomenal
team. Once they get the ball, everyone spreads and disposals
are so clean we can't even get a tackle on.
The positive is that Acres on his debut is going well. 8 possessions
in a half.
