Riewoldt didn't look right
Roo seemed very subdubed tonight, he was limping early and didn't seem to run anywhere as much as usual.

Re: Riewoldt didn't look right
Shocking conditions for a key forward, hence he struggled and was well held.

Re: Riewoldt didn't look right
Landed awkwardly when his leg got caught up in a pack with Jack Billings.
I am happy to rest him so he is cherry ripe versus the Blues.

Re: Riewoldt didn't look right
Very noticeable at the game that Roo was not having those searching long leads that he is so well known for, he also played very deep - I suspect he wasn't right.
Re: Riewoldt didn't look right
Don't rest him unless an injury is affecting him.. In saying that, we know about his Knee..

Re: Riewoldt didn't look right
Careful,
Last time I inferred he was struggling.... I paid for it for three years....
Even great players have niggles that cause them to struggle occasionally.... Yes he collided with Billings
And it was a bad night for him, given they always dropped on off on him!

Re: Riewoldt didn't look right
He will play unless there is something really wrong with him .
Tough conditions and a small ground don't help roo
Its 150m long ( about the same as the SCG )
and 120m wide ( which is 15 metres less than docklands)
very easy for modern footballers to cover space .

Re: Riewoldt didn't look right
with the three brissy players who played on him at the same time im suprised he did as well as he did .... that said we still fall for that trap of kicking it to him when he is in a three on one contest ... if there are three players on Roo then there is two of our blokes without an opponent... we just cant seem to find them and go for the kick and hope Roo does something magical ...

If Riewoldt didn't look right then he must have looked left?

Re: Riewoldt didn't look right
You could cut his leg off and he'd still play better on crutches than most others on the groundBigMart wrote:Careful,

Re: Riewoldt didn't look right
Was at the game on Friday nite
Roo was very 'proppy' after that collision early in the game. His repeat runs were also interrupted by the traffic around the small ground
The Brions defence did their usual bullying display on him and even got away with at least 2 'tunneling' efforts ( one being right in front of the Saints faithfull on the wing)
From memory our best mate - umpire no 29 .................called play on
He got up, dusted off and still kept running and contributing for the rest of the game - Champion

Re: Riewoldt didn't look right
Yeah,
He is about 25% better than most .... So a 75% fit probably brings him back to the normal player.

Re: Riewoldt didn't look right
Roo has only been right for one game this year, the first one. After that it's been a miracle how he gets up for each game. If you had seen him walk/run/train two days before the Essendon game you would have said he would be a late withdrawal. He played a ripper. The bloke is an absolute warrior. For whatever reason the team and Roo just weren't on Friday night.

Re: Riewoldt didn't look right
At the risk of a warning from BUFA for being insulting (here goes)
- CJ and Faz will each turn ball over at least 3 times per quarter
- gifting a possible (worst case scenario) 6 free goals to Dorks per quarter
- 24 free goals in total potentially.
So if we drop the pototoes (can't call them spuds, that's rude)
we save maybe between 12 to 24 goals.
Lets say 12 goals that we deny to the Dorks.
Rest the Captain, we miss out on his 4 goals and score assists in maybe 2.
Do the math, people.
Drop all three and we save Nicky boy, and reduce the damage,
YOU KNOWWWWW I'M RIGHT !!!

How many turnovers has Lenny been responsible for in the last few games, maybe we can save some more goals!WellardSaint wrote:At the risk of a warning from BUFA for being insulting (here goes)

Being at the ground I was amazed how narrow it is alsomr six o'clock wrote:He will play unless there is something really wrong with him .

Small ground didn't suit him and he did look left a lot!

Re: Riewoldt didn't look right
My only criticisms of Nick:
-Demanding the ball in bad positions and scowling when it isn't given to him.
-missing simple set shots (better this year).
-putting up his hand to play when body won't allow him to perform.

Another form of courage is putting your hand up and saying "I'm not right to play"Toy Saint wrote:Again, Nick just seems to be injured. We all know how courageous he is, but he's just struggling.

Re: Riewoldt didn't look right
Should have rested him tonight and saved him for the Blues .
Waste of time playing him tonight - this isnt hindsight either - quite a few posters suggested this during the week.
