I thought we were quite good.

I feel sorry for the die-hards (including the cheer squad) who made the trip over the big ditch only see the game slip off the side of our boots.

NZ is the new Tas. Can't win a bloody game there, we'll be out of there soon.
Re: Vent your spleen thread
Chelsea signalled goals and points with very good posture tonight

Lance or James??

Savage should not bother coming back, just stay home and play whatever they play in NZ!

What was painful about that game was we let them win--we even went out of our way to lose it in the end! They were literally begging for us to beat them.

We feel how Essendon felt last week. There was too much love for us last week, and I think the players got a bit of a head wobble going.sainterinsydney wrote:Good except losing to the team that was 0-5satchmo wrote:I thought we were quite good.

I think you have a good point there--we started believing our own hype.8856brother wrote:We feel how Essendon felt last week. Is that the goal umpire? She's so CUTE!joffaboy wrote:Chelsea signalled goals and points with very good posture tonight
I went to school with a girl who looked exactly like her.
This was my father's belief
And this is also mine:

And the grapes be all one vine,
Ere our children's teeth are set on edge
By bitter bread and wine.

Pissed about our 1st half effort. Happy with the 2nd hard to take as we just about had it. A few mistakes and misses let down a true steal win. On to the dawks

I feel like Saunders needs some form back in the VFL. Looked a bit lost at times tonight.

Re: Vent your spleen thread
1. Why oh WHY did we not play Sam Fisher? Surely he would have been the perfect opponent for J Brown tonight? Bad selection decision in my opinion
2. Shane Savage - Should not have played tonight, a guy like Maverick Weller ahead of him easy. Irrespective of his poor last few minutes of the game, he just doesnt win enough of his own ball and have the polish with hand or foot
3. Adam Schneider - him missing didnt cost us the game but would have kept Savage out of the side
Most disappointing part was the effort in the 1st half - I think this will be Richo's biggest challenge to get consistency in effort

Our effort was missing, then our ability to kick a bloody goal. The umpires were missing any ability to umpires in a fair manner....

Probably should have spent more time training at the ground and learning the conditions, rather than walking thru the city handing out flyers and taking happy snaps.
Might have realized to wear their long stops from the start, rather than ice - skating their way thru the first half.

Re: Vent your spleen thread
Farren Ray had the chance to put us in front with only seconds to go and he absolutely stuffed it.
Joey tried his guts out and I know he got the medal...but you wonder what he was thinking when he made a crucial error and gave them back the lead. It wasn't his job to manhandle Brown or contest against him. All he had to do was keep his eyes on the footy.
I think it was just when we had all the momentum in the dying minutes and Joey needed to kill that footy or at least get a hand on it. Bruise free footy usually leads to losing and Joey didn't want to attack the contest. I suppose he usually waits for the crumbs but this time he had to go - Delaney was jostling with JBrown so third man up always has the advantage.
Jack Steven should have gone the high banana and Billings should have kicked a drop punt not tried to run it along the ground. I know both Jacks missed but there was a lot more time on the clock when they missed and it was still anyones game to win. I think the experienced blokes let us down

Re: Vent your spleen thread
From the first minute it looked like we had psyched ourself out of a win and they had psyched themselves into a win.
We were always going to lose from the first bounce.
It was one of those games we were desperate to lose and just could not take a trick.
Ray should have won it for us - as simple as this.
My main concern was Seb Ross who just looks miles of AFL standard.
Savage worked his guts out but doesnt seem quite to know what to do when he gets the ball in traffic. hes ok in the clear.
All in all - the writing was on the wall from the bounce. We never got a clean run on all day.
