He looks like he will be a very good player for us. The things that are noticeable are his decision making and his acceleration from a contest. Its only his first game in the VFL but that form is very impressive and will no doubt debut in the near future.

He makes it look easy - the ease with which he weaves around players and through traffic - AFL beckons soon.

That's what stands out, for him and Billings as well IMO - the way they work through traffic. Very calm and composed and then hit targets.

He gets the Pendlebury comparison a bit because of his smooth movement and evasive qualities. He could be one of the steals of the draft. He was highly rated from the year before but injuries meant he couldn't show his development. He comes from an elite sporting family and has a fantastic size. Exciting prospect.

From Knightmares 2013 phantom draft on Big footy- he's a very astute judge usually- nice to have 2 in that list. He also had Dunstan around 14 from memory.

Power Rankings for 2013:
*Potential A-graders*
1. Jack Martin (WA - Mid) – Gold Coast via minidraft.
2. Thomas Boyd (VIC - KPF)
3. Jesse Hogan (WA - KPF) – Melbourne via minidraft.
4. Blake Acres (WA – Mid/Util)
5. Luke McDonald (VIC - UTIL – NM F/S)
6. James Aish (SA – Mid/Def)
7. Jack Billings (VIC – Fwd/Mid)
8. Matthew Scharenberg (SA – Def)
9.Kade Kolodjashnij (TAS – Util)
10.Marcus Bontempelli (VIC – Util)

He looks like a really classy prospect.

Hopefully he can keep building his fitness, because he missed large chunks of the pre-season.

Great footage.
Looks like he belongs.

Got himself in the right spots.
Did he go to ground even once?

Loved the way in a pack when everyone else stopped waiting for the whistle he wrested the ball loose and set up a teammate.

Nice size. Nice clean hands. Weaves in and around traffic. Can run.
Bloody hell I like the look of him.

Looks good and has that evasive talent. Hopefully see he as a sub at least at some point this year.

One thing that the really good players seem to do is they already clearly know which direction they are heading before they take the ball.
Real talent of spacial awareness that seems to separate them (I never had it) and Blake seems to have it.
Some players are focussed on getting the ball and then once they have it trying to figure out what do with it.
The guns already know what direction the space is and are already heading there before they even take possession.
Bloody good to watch.

Well said, being one mental step ahead of the opposition is a huge advantage and Acres showed some of that in his first game. Exciting times.

He is not the fittest looking bloke ATM which would be as a result of limited prep.

So, in light of that... Good start.

He's lanky but has a very nice sized frame. He looks like he will be a big boy when he fills out. He's much taller than I expected him to be. He would be taller than 191 IMO which I think he was listed as and Webster looked taler than they have him listed as too. Might just be that they are slender guys though.

those heighta are sometimes crap...taken when a kid is 17/18 and never changed....don't know how many times i heard bj say he is 193 cm and blake say he was 191 cm...yet they were both always listed as 189cm in official afl records..... bj still is listed at that height this year........4cm is a bloody big difference....

Yep only played roughly half the game last week in the devs for 24 touches. And only played 10 mins of the last quarter due to cramp this week.

Will be very eager to see how he goes in a month or so when he's built his fitness base up.

That Kristiano Pisano or something like that rates Acres ahead of Tom Boyd, Acres stats in the WAFL 18's are amazing for an injury riddled campaign.

◾Averaging 26 disposals (19.1 kicks and 7.7 handballs) at Colts level

He's def one with the most scope to be just about anything. Billings looks a near certainty to be a very good player. Dunstan will give you 200 games with out issues barring injury but for pure unlimited potential Blakers is the man for me. He has the skills, the pace an the x factor.

The things that stand out are

a) he clearly reads the play well, has excellent decision making and good awareness
b) his disposal is pretty good and he backs himself to do the eye of the needle kicks

The I/V read well seems like a good kid.

I say be cautious with him, get him up to ideal fitness... seems like he really has the potential to be anything

I think Con's observation seems to be a really good one too

+1, theres another thread written by a WA poster on bigfooty that explained his background. apparently grew 2cm between measurements in 1 year.

agree he should fill out nicely
