Re: Injury Update
Joey and Lenny are not injured (although Lenny may have a tight hammy).
Mav Weller is a rookie and will miss Sandy's first game. He will not be available for the Saints until he's elevated to the senior list.

I just cut and paste this directly from the AFL website. No point 'correcting' me.Bernard Shakey wrote:Joey and Lenny are not injured (although Lenny may have a tight hammy).

Re: Injury Update
Any ideas why Markworth and Acres haven't played yet if they aren't injured?
Particularly Markworth, I would have hoped to push for a permanent position in the side this year.

3 foot injuries.
Although I don't know him personally it seems tony attends a lot of training sessions at Seaford and knows what he's talking about in this regard.tony74 wrote:Soft as a baby's bum. No problem there.saintspremiers wrote:Perhaps LHC surface is too hard due to lack of watering.
Wouldn't surprise me that baulking on a few extra $$$ on water bills may have caused this.

I think after a full knee reco, then another recent minor knee injury they are taking things very slowly for Daniel... Another serious injury could end his career before it begins.FQF wrote:Any ideas why Markworth and Acres haven't played yet if they aren't injured?

Not sure on Acres, probably easing him slowly too.
Hopefully they both get a run this week.

Re: Injury Update
Has Markworth done much apart from looking promising at Sandy prior to injury? I think he would be in the queue behind a few others for senior selection..but if he has the goods, I hope he gets every chance.

No he hasn't played a game yet, so sandy form is the only indication.spert wrote:Has Markworth done much apart from looking promising at Sandy prior to injury? I think he would be in the queue behind a few others for senior selection..but if he has the goods, I hope he gets every chance.
I would have thought the queue was fairly short though? Particularly for a medium forward/mid, probably only Siposs and Murdoch in that area who aren't exactly banging down the door.

Scans on Sam Gilbert's foot have revealed no new structural damage to the previous injury experienced in the pre-season. He has suffered severe bruising and soreness to his foot but will not require additional surgery.
Sam will need a period of rest and rehabilitation from this aggravation of his foot injury and at this stage, is anticipated to miss 4-6 weeks.
"While we were disappointed to have Sam aggravate his foot injury on the weekend, we are pleased that no new structural damage has been caused and look forward to his return soon," said St Kilda Head of Football Chris Pelchen.

Re: Injury Update
Looking pretty healthy at the moment:
http://www.saints.com.au/team/injuries
Adam Schneider - back - test
Jack Steven - foot - test
Lewis Pierce - back - 5 weeks
Sam Gilbert - foot - 4-6 weeks
Bad news for the rookies, including Eli. Good news for Sandy. Hopefully a bit of competition for spots coming up.

Re: Injury Update
The Doc says: Wright has had surgery on his right fibula fracture with plate and screws fixation a likely part of that. He could miss 4-5 months. Armitage was in the wars against Adelaide and is in doubt with a knee and concussion. The knee is more likely to restrict his training. Hickey has an ongoing big toe capsular strain and may play with strapping but will still be below his best. Gilbert has a left foot fracture and it's a bad sign that he is still getting sore after surgery. The risk of non-healing in this type of fracture is extremely high, similar to what Kreuzer at Carlton is facing. - 16/4saintbrat wrote:couple of names lingering on the list

Is Hickeys toe going to be a long term issue? I remember Sandilands 'turf toe' kept him out of footy for ages.
