Leaping Longer

Post: # 1449818Post The Redeemer »

Impressive leap.

Can certainly ruck for a bloke with less than ten games behind him.

Our ruck division is sorted ideally for a decade and we should have one of the best in the league in due course.

This becomes a great weapon.

Can leap but gets nowhere near it

Good rucking is a lot more than just leaping.

Only young...but Hickeys game and second efforts currently add a lot more to the team.

He wasn't the worst on the field but was well beaten, we really missed Hickey

Some of his ruckwork was A Grade. The couple of centre ckearances he set up and the tap to Armo in the pocket showed his class.

24 hitouts to 39 against someone who has played 80 games. Won't argue impact around the ground because hard pressed to pick out any standouts in the whole team

Longer struggled to run to contests. He needs another couple of pre-seasons to build a tank. Sam Jacobs destroyed him around the ground with the crows playing through his man all day long (pardon the pun!).

He did what you could realistically expect of him...

His performance was at the standard of Hickey's last year.

He showed glimpses

He looked ok

Longer was terrible.

Lazy and slow.

At one stage he didn't even get to the ruck contest and somehow we won that clearance.
Stanley was far better than Longer in the ruck.

Has a long long long way to go...

On for 96% of the game, more than any other player on both sides. Not sure how much Stanley rucked around the ground but he had 3 hitouts. It's the kids 8th game? I'd hardly be throwing the towel in on him yet.

Nearly didn't make to a few ruck contests, but then Adelaide did repeatedly block him as he was trying to get to a ball up or boundary throw in, or did you miss that little tactic ??

The reason I go to the footy (this season) is to see the development of our young guys. Was really pleased with Longer today, gave me the impression he will develop into a 10 year player. At the very least, I now understand why we let McEvoy go.

My goodness, someone who actually watches the game. They coached very well against Billy.

No I thought was good for 10gamer was let down by per decision making of senior players who let him down early.

Would much prefer him to Stanley going forward group I was standing with much preferred Hickey / Longer combo.

Sorry Beau it is over 4 games this year is more than enough to say give Lee the gig at FF at this stage.

Had gut feeing with Eli being 1 too many games at this stage , also thought was bit dodgy selection this week
Thought Bruce should be playing , Bilings class in forward pocket should have played.

Hope they have schneiderman Lee Bruce Bilings in team this week.

Learning to win the footy as a Ruckman takes some time... Most young ruckmen have low and inconsistent possession counts?

If he competed hard in the stoppages, good enough ATP

Like to see him take a few more marks... Obviously not running to the right spots..

Tony forget the party line all the time. he wasnt much chop today and the side was terrible at best. we are a bottom 3 side as we knew we were at the start of the year. Nothing wrong with that but thats where we are. billy has a long way to go and as someone else said how the hell do Hicket and Longer play in the same side. I cant see it at all.

Tried hard and timed his leaps well. Jacobs used his body at the stoppages much better getting Longer out of position.

A couple of palm downs were superb.

About where Hickey was this time last year

You know, sometimes players, coaches and teams are just better than you. Today Adelaide F.C were.
