Jayco Caravans

Post: # 1448969Post BigMart »

Just reading in the Sun that the boss of Jayco Caravans is a big StK man

Interesting that a Massive business out of Frankston Dandenong Rd with its main showroom at Weels Rd Seaford 1km from LHC isn't a major sponsor?

Unless of course it is? With out my knowing?

It's also interested me over the years that multi millionaire transport company owners
Greg Westaway and Lindsay Fox
Have never sponsored the club

Why is that?!

Because sponsoring a low-ranked footy club makes very little sense from a business perspective?

A private company might be able to sponsor on the whim of the boss. A publicly listed company has to spend shareholder money wisely. Either way it doesn't make much sense to spend your marketing budget on St Kilda footy club. They might sponsor personally but I don't know why they would as a business.

Gerry puts in huge amounts of money. The altitude rooms are his alone. Lindsay puts in zero. Until now.

Why dish out personal coin

When the company can get advertising from your support... And It's In that same community.

StK would not be a bad brand, and brand with Nick Riewoldt, Lenny Hayes as ambassadors would be fine for my company... Also, Whilst not a lot of members... A lot of supporters, Australia wide... But a glut in bayside Melbourne....

The initial post prompted my memory. Check out:

there were a few articles at the time,

Jayco and the family have been very generous to St Kilda over the years

You have NFI!

Oh Sorry

I thought we were struggling to find a major sponsor?

Yes, of course I understand these power brokers tip in money.... Why don't the sponsor the club officially?

Yet another bit of personal abuse that makes this place so nice to visit

Some people have NFI about manners

I get it. Complain about personal abuse and then abuse some people but dont use names. Its is still personal abuse.

Lindsay Fox has helped us out.
It's up to the club to prove it is not a basket case and show we are a successful business model. I couldn't blame him for not tipping money into a club that is not.
I have the feeling we are finally on track now. Peter Summers appears to be doing a good job. The Matt Finnis appointment seems at this stage to be a good one.
If we keep moving forward sponsors will come.

Lindsay put in plenty during the 80's. Probably wouldn't be a StKilda if not for Lindsay.

Well good...

If they are sponsors.... It makes sense to me considering the company is next door and the boss is a powerful supporter.

Did Lindsay really tip in heaps of Cash in the 80's
Was he the architect of the deal the players took when they recieved 22c to the dollar for payments and the joint went bust?!

I don't really know the financial history to well, normally it doesn't interest me

Always wondered why Lynfox has never been a major sponsor?

If Lyndsay has tipped in heaps, why not do it officially?....

Fox was the one that engineered the 8 and a half cents in the dollar to be paid back to the creditors in the 80s. If that hadn't happened St Kilda would not exist today. He's also put in a shitload of his own money into the club. You can search the internet and then report back.

Exactly.

He also does so much but stays in the back ground.

Who do you think orchestrated all the former players to be at the first game of the season? Oh and where did they have their pre - game function? Yes at his house at his expense.
He also does so much for former players and helps them either get back on their feet or stay on their feet. This man is fiercely loyal to his old footy mates and his club. He is just not a look at me type of guy. He is very in touch with what is going on at the club.

And how much advertising do you actually see for linfox??? His business is doing very well without it. The man even advises politicians, and who do you think is co-ordinating the ANZAC day celebrations this year back at ANZAC cove.... um you guessed it.

This man saved us, and continues too, you just dont know it because he isnt a show off.

Fox even paid for his old mates at the VFA club Moorabbin to go overseas for a reunion. Ask Morrow and Read how loyal Fox is. Or any player he played with.

Lindsay Fox didn't put in to help St Kilda.
He asked the likes of Trevor Barker to play for next to nothing so they could write off debt.
Barker famously donated a car he won back to the club.

Lindsay Fox has put more money into Carlton than he has St Kilda.

i just remember him bragging that he had never put his own money into the saints......i was fairly surprised if not actually outraged by his boast........something i will never forget...i still have his footy cards..........i also remember elliott welcoming him with open arms into the blues inner sanctum of supporters with deep pockets.....

...i'm sure that there are others on here who can confirm what i say.........actually this subject has been done to death many many times on this forum since the turn of the century.....also with the same result....
