Re: Changes for Crows game
Bumped into Sammy Fisher on Acland St. He said he was playing this week. So I'm going to go... Fisher, Billings, Lee and Simpkin.
Weller was best on for Sandy as well so who knows. Blake Acres absolutely killed it in the Sandy reserves for his first game of the year too but he'll be a several weeks away no doubt.

Doing just the ins is easy - who goes out for those four?prwilkinson wrote:Bumped into Sammy Fisher on Acland St. He said he was playing this week. So I'm going to go... Fisher, Billings, Lee and Simpkin.
Re: Changes for Crows game
If Fisher really is in this week, the way I see it, he will either be a straight swap for Gilbert, or more daringly, a swap for Maister.
Depending on which way that goes, it'll either be Lee or Simpkin swapping for the other one.
I'd like to see Billings given a go, and I think Saunders will be rested.
In: Fisher, Lee/Simpkin, Billings
Out: Gilbert, Maister, Saunders

Re: Changes for Crows game
I was thinking that... hmm I'll say.. Fisher for Gilbo, Delaney for Simpkin, Maister for Lee and I'm really not sure who for Billings... All the kids deserve another run that played against West Coast... I thought their energy and effort was outstanding so I'll say Savage or Websterbergholt wrote:Doing just the ins is easy - who goes out for those four?prwilkinson wrote:Bumped into Sammy Fisher on Acland St. He said he was playing this week. Re: Changes for Crows game
I'd be disappointed if Simpkin isn't given a massive run of games this year, if his form is holding true.
He seems like such a natural, gritty, tight, grind-it-out defender. Wins the 50/50s 9 times out of 10.
I'm a big fan.

I heard Schneider telling someone at the open training session this morning that he was playing this week.

Steven, Schneider & Fisher coming in would be unbelievable.
Couldnt play all 3 IMO. Jack as sub would be perfect. The other 2 in the reserves.

Re: Changes for Crows game
I don't understand having Jack as the sub, he's basically our best player, if he is fit enough to play… then he starts on the ground, if he isn't then he shouldn't be sub either as he may well have to play the entire game like Savage did last week.
Can always sub him out of the game if runs out of legs…

Re: Changes for Crows game
Thought I read on here someone spoke to Jack
while he was running laps and he said he was
Still 2/3 weeks away.
Disappointing if true. But we don't want to rush
him. Would love seeing him out there though.

Yes i get your point regarding injury but i think it is easier to come onto the ground after everyone else is buggered than start on the ground when everyone is fresh. The other option is the reserves but surely jack is to good for that now.

Why the hell are there suggestions floating about dropping Delaney and Webster?

Re: Changes for Crows game
You would think that Schneids, Fisher and Steven would need to have run at Sandy due to the amount of time they have been out, as they would definitely run out of steam or risk getting re-injured if they were rushed back into the seniors. Good form at Sandy should get rewarded, and Simpkin, Billings, Weller(rookie?) , Shenton and TDL are putting their hands up. We need to get goal kickers up and about though, and Longer might be in the mix. I would like to see Saunders get on the scoreboard a bit more, so he may be rested even though he is on the improve.
Re: Changes for Crows game
I think Richo has already stated that they will return through Sandy?
Given what's happened to Gilbert, I'd expect caution with all three.... Last thing needed is any recurrence with any of them?!
Long season.
Imagine if either were re injured .... Not good

It would be better for us if Patrick Dangerfield was in doubt!SaintPav wrote:Briefly heard on half's show that Rodney Dangerfield has an ankle and is in doubt.

Re: Changes for Crows game
I cant understand people wanting to drop Delaney - I believe he has been really solid in his opening 3 games and done a far better job than any replacement would.prwilkinson wrote:I was thinking that... hmm I'll say.. Re: Changes for Crows game
I'd keep Maister - but with a single KPI.
Contests created in our forward 50.
I'd want three every quarter = 12 in a match. At worst, that's 12 50-50 contests at ground level. At best, he'll clunk three of them and contest another nine.
A complete battering ram when the ball is kicked hurridly forward, a viable second option to Riewoldt, and offering a frenetic effort for defensive pressure.
He has to be the ultimate team player. It's the only way he'll save his career.
