Saturday's Sandringham vs Northern Blues practice match will now start at 2.30pm at Visy Park and Dev Squad at 5pm.

Based on the list I really worry about Sandy this year. There is no depth at all. And that is based on my knowledge of a few of the new players and who they have lost.

A mixed bag. Piers Flanagan sounds exciting . If he can't play footy he is already qualified to open a pub.

Adam Cockie has been appointed captain for 2014 and is joined in leadership group by Myke Cook, Peter Shakallis, Daniel Maitland & James Munro.

As we edge closer to round one, every club is full of optimism at what the upcoming season has in store. Some teams are looking to challenge for the premiership, some are hoping to make finals whilst others are just eager to improve on the previous season.

For Sandringham coach Simon McPhee, it’s the latter. He is looking for improvement on what can only be described as a disappointing 2013 season. 2013 saw the Zebras fail to make the finals after a strong 2012 where they played finals for the first time in four years.

“We have a young playing group overall so first and foremost we want to improve and be competitive,” McPhee told True Zebras.

“We finished the year well with a win over Frankston. In that team we had 13 players [that were] 20 years old or younger, so we expect our improvement to come largely from those players.”

TBBO will not be ready for first home game next month.
Have not even started retaining wall and railing at southern end. Apparently Bayside Council cannot make up their mind how much they want to spend. $10,000 or $150,000!

It's going to be a race against time to have it finished..training starts at TBBO tomorrow for the first time on the new surface..be a bit of an obstacle course for players just to get on the ground..

Jack Steven was running laps there earlier today..said he was around 2-3 weeks away

The playing surface is brilliant! They'll probably just have to fence off the southern end.
