Great work by Holmes and a beautiful goal into the wind by Billings from the boundary
Lance or James??

Re: VFL - Rd 1, Sandringham vs Frankston
Roberton is incredibly disappointing. Drops his head when he doesn't get the ball. His kicking is appalling.
Tom Lee looked very good in that quarter. Three goals and he spent half the quarter in the ruck.
Holmes has a LOOOOOONG way to go. Although in a five minute period where every Sandy player who got it tried to kick a torp with the wind, he gave off a handpass. Maybe he hasn't learned the torp yet.
I was impressed with Simpkin's confidence to mark on the forward line and turn on to his left foot. Unfortunately it ended up being a 2m sideways chip.
Weller hasn't had a lot of it but impressed by his efforts.
I thought Bruce was pretty good other than the 50 he gave away. Shenton also good but made a couple of poor errors.

Classy goal by Billings against the wind.
He is starting to get the ball much more after a quiet first half.
Sandy 20 points up.

Re: VFL - Rd 1, Sandringham vs Frankston
Holmes has a nice leap - will be an OK ruckman when he learns the game
Billings looks all class with the ball, disposal a bit sloppy
Markworth moves nicely, a bit rusty, but I like the way he moves.
Lee, doing his job, beautiful kick of the football
TDL and Milera look a class above VFL but a bit below AFL
SIpposs doing some nice work in Qtr2
Roberton looking underdone but getting the pill. Turning it over though.
Bruce - unless he gets rid of the idiotic Hipster beard and hair, never to get a game until this happens - or delist. Hipster tryhard
Hipster Scum get nothin done .....oxymoron comment re billings .

Re: VFL - Rd 1, Sandringham vs Frankston
Great news on the Sandy front - Frankston pumped us in the pre-season but that was the same weekend GWS pumped the Saints I think so the Saints players were in heavy training load and buggered.
Lee has turned it around - maybe he was just coasting while his shoulder was recovering. Its bloody terrific. Billings on fire too.
My only worries are Dylan and Spencer.
Spencer is at the cross-roads and we all know Dylan can play so I'm worried about his state of mind. Hope the kid is ok.

Ouch, Ben Mc Evoy should be at least in the BHH senior side. Their depth must be massive if he can't even make that. They looked like they recruited well but Big mac is in their development squad and Garlett has packed his bag and run.
Re: VFL - Rd 1, Sandringham vs Frankston
Well it looked like McEvoy was holding the Hawks back considering the way they played last night.gringo wrote:kosifantutti wrote:According to the afl site:gringo wrote:Did anyone else notice the boxhill Hawks development squad have this guy Mc Evoy who kicked 5 goals. Interesting how a poster on here was singing his praises compared to Hickey last week. Wonder if he thinks he knows more than the Hawthorn selection committee who dropped him.

Some very ordinary comments
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.
Re: VFL - Rd 1, Sandringham vs Frankston
Gee this Billings kid is a footballer. Just drilled one from a set shot 50 out on the boundary. Getting near it around the ground as well.
Re: VFL - Rd 1, Sandringham vs Frankston
We should have a look at signing Billings

Four in the last quarter of a tough game for Billings. Two from the goal square but still - good signs.

Wow what a second half by Billings. All class. Four goals already in last quarter and five for the game.
I don't think he will be playing many more games at this level.

Re: VFL - Rd 1, Sandringham vs Frankston
I actually think Holmes is OK in ruck contests around the ground, where it's not so much about technique as power. But beaten hands down in centre bounces and in general play.
Re: VFL - Rd 1, Sandringham vs Frankston
Yeah he was well beaten, but he has a leap and gets to the contest. Really the epitome of a project player.bergholt wrote:I actually think Holmes is OK in ruck contests around the ground, where it's not so much about technique as power. But beaten hands down in centre bounces and in general play.
A huge way to go but needs to learn the game. Still showed more than Walsh ever did
