Re: Armo
Ever since 2007, Hamill aside I have never seen a player hit a contest with the ferocity Armo does... He is a wrecking ball and did it from his first game at Casey.
He has struggled for consistency... Generally to do with his ability to win easy ball, out on the wings and in the back half.... And to get to enough contests.
He spends so much anaerobic energy cracking in, it's like he's running in syrup sometimes... He also loses depth in his kicks from the obvious build up of lactic acid.
For too many years he was held back from string games together, and dropped after averaged outputs. Gun youth need a long run at it to learn....
He dominated the VFL and stagnated from 2009-2010
He is a my favourite, because he hits the contest with purpose to inflict pain

Held back? He has taken 8 years... Not sure there are enough excuses for him.
Re: Armo
Any kid that gets 3 Brownlow votes and carries a team and gets dropped two weeks later after laying 13 tackles?
Is being held back
I don't reckon there was a VFL game in that period he didn't dominate on his ear... I think he resigned himself as a fringe at best, knew he was dominant at VFL level... Didn't push to the next level? His style of footy is never going to be that of an accumulator of high numbers... He is an impact player who can influence a contest without stats... He would get up the most of any saint over the last three years and hand the ball back to the umpire... Every time he locked it in, the opposition didn't clear it? He spends a lot of energy wrestling on the bottom of a pack.
I love his game... Have done since he started.
I wished he got a crack in 09 .... Wet day at the G he might have laid 20 tackles

How come when given a chance to pick your side in GF week on here you never suggested his name. the name you mentioned to replace a player was Geary but alas now he should have played. this is genuine hidsight. This posts comes out every good game but fails to appear every ordinary game. didnt see this last week. Hindsight crap. i expect a post like this when Jack comes back and plays a great game. Im sure there were a few last year.

If I (who counts for nothing) didn't have him selected in 2009? That's IF?! I erred like the selection panel.
Almost as much as a player playing 46% of the game and getting over 20 touches?

Re: Armo
I think he can be an accumulator. He had a few 30 plus possession BOG games last year and with added attention finds it harder to do but he will adjust and be a regular 25+ possession midfielder by the end of 2014. He's very underrated for what he achieved in 2013. Jack overshadowed him but he was very solid. His brother suggested he was gone if Ross had stayed- his frustration level must have been very high.BigMart wrote:Any kid that gets 3 Brownlow votes and carries a team and gets dropped two weeks later after laying 13 tackles?

wasn't given a fair go in those two years by a certain nameless former coach...imho.....BigMart wrote:Ever since 2007, Hamill aside I have never seen a player hit a contest with the ferocity Armo does...

Is that the great coach RL when people say he is no good or that poor coach RL when people say he was good? I have posted your changes previously. Not wasting my time again because you will never admit wrong. Even the time you said hardwick recruited Cousins you refused to admit wrong when proven otherwise.
Re: Armo
But your willing to post comments without references?
Then bring in separate arguments?
If you're not willing to 'waste your time' don't bother
I seriously doubt that's the reason though, your time is spent on SS generally stalking me... Everyone knows it?!
Btw
Did Hardwick ever coach BC? Hate to ruin your big 'gotcha' moment but I was referring to Hardwick's approval of Cosins and mistakingly thought he recruited him? It made no real difference about the actual point, it was just a detail
I suppose when clutching for straws about the argument, as you do? You digress and look for minor details to validate your non-point.
Hardwick and Delidio stated that Cousins was great for the club?! In black and white print?

Thanks for that now please do as you promised and put me on ignore if you can. Yes everyone knows I stalk you. You discuss it with everyone all the time. Might ask hardwick what he really thinks of Cousins and get back to you. he is at our club every week or so.

Re: Armo
Armo gives it all- great clubman. I think Richo will get the best out of Armo, where RL the also-ran coach wouldn't have had a clue how to. I reckon a top coach like Clarkson would really get Armo up there and playing GF footy.

Immature in 09/10 . Yes he played well when half the team was rested vs hawthorn but he was behind all of dal , bj , montagna, hayes , gram , ball , ray and jones when it came to midfield positions and maqualter and eddy played the pressure forward role better than him. He was stiff no doubt about it, so was jack steven but can't fit everyone in .

Re: Armo
Ross didn't play him consistently. He played about 45 of his 99 games in Watters 2 years. I would call that held back.Spinner wrote:BigMart wrote:Ever since 2007, Hamill aside I have never seen a player hit a contest with the ferocity Armo does... Lance or James??

Re: Armo
What fwd pressure did Rob Eddy (who I like) exert.
His role in 09/10 was to engage Mackie and Maxwell....
Armitage in hindsight should have played... Better player, by some distance. As tackling fwd, and extra clearance option to take the heat off Lenny who was getting sat on.... He averaged 9 tackles a game
