Exclusive to saints.com.auFootball will be returning to Moorabbin this Saturday when St Kilda’s VFL affiliate Sandringham taking on Werribee at the Saints’ former home ground.
The match will be the Zebras’ final home game before launching into the season proper. They go in with plenty of momentum following last week’s 66-point win over the Northern Blues.
There will be a strong St Kilda flavour in the Zebras line-up with Billy Longer, Terry Milera, Trent Dennis-Lane, Tom Lee, Sam Dunell, Cameron Shenton, Josh Bruce, Darren Minchington, Brodie Murdoch, Arryn Siposs, Seb Ross, Daniel Markworth and Spencer White all named to take part.
Number three draft pick Jack Billings has also been named after making his AFL debut in last week’s win over Melbourne.
WHERE: Moorabbin Oval, Linton St, Moorabbin
TIME: Saturday March 29, 11am VFL Development squad, 2pm VFL seniors.

Right. That's a ridiculous time for a game - at Moorabbin of all places! They could have got 1000 or so on Sunday, on Saturday they'll be lucky to get 200.saintspremiers wrote:Don't understand why it's not Sunday arvo so avoid a clash with the GWS game

You would have to think Markworth is ready to replace Savage this week.
The coach said he would be honest and select on form so that would be the obvious decision.

Again silly timing. Sandy is a vehicle to promote and develop Saints players. Our club should have more say given half their team were our players.

Did our emergencies play?
Bit of a waste Billings not getting a full run after limited pre season and being sub last week.
Anyone know?

I read on Bigfooty that Longer and TDL weren't stripped and ready until almost quarter time. Presumably they were kept at Etihad until the last minute.falka wrote:Did our emergencies play?

Anyone go to the game who can provide some insight ?

Re: Practice match -Sandringham at Moorabbin 29th march
There is no chance that Savage will not play in New Zealand - regardless of form. So I would think that they'll want him to at least settle into some form before that.

Maybe Ross should be given a game for the Saints?

Not next week at Subi though. Too much space and he's too slow.sverik25 wrote:Maybe Ross should be given a game for the Saints?

Great work from Seb. He was looking good at the end of last season and getting in the low 20 possessions. he's not popular on here but I like what he does albeit quietly. Seems a focused serious young man. Good to see Mozzie starting to get a bit of form back.
White just ticking over another couple on his goal kicking tally. Markworth starting to stand up. Good signs.

Spoke to a mate who went to the game, says of Seb Ross.. "looks like a footballer, but his 2 major floors, are that, he turns like the titanic and would be, lucky to hit the titanic on a lead"
But "has great hands"

Re: Practice match -Sandringham at Moorabbin 29th march
http://www.saints.com.au/news/2014-03-3 ... just-short
Seb Ross was the shinning light for Sandringham; the midfielder was prolific around the contest, gathering 33 disposals and snapping a classy goal.
"He got a lot of possessions, worked pretty hard and it was nice for him to go forward and get a goal,” McPhee said.
Werribee were fast out of the blocks in the first quarter, capitalising on Sandringham’s lack of a genuine ruckmen, with Tom Lee rucking while Billy Longer made his way over from Etihad Stadium where he had been warming up with St Kilda’s senior team in case a late change was needed.
The addition of Longer to the team in the second quarter proved to be a spark for the Zebras, as Longer’s hit-outs to advantage proved vital in the Zebras’ ability to control the midfield, with the Zebras taking a four-point lead into half-time
