Re: Hickey breakout game
Saint 58,
I watched the game last night due to big boy playing... imo i thought Hickley won more taps today then Ben last night (before Ryder went down) i am not worried about losing big ben... think it worked out best for both clubs.. he looks great for the hawks and Hickley is really starting to shine for us.

Aside from your P66 wars, I dont mind your posting BM. But that is a joke comment. Giles was basically a full time tall forward, often opposed to Gwilt. Rucked less than Stanley at a guess.BigMart wrote:How did Mummy and Giles play?
Mmm? I'd suggest they were ranked 1 & 2 for GWS
However, Hickey played a very good 'around the ground' game....
So in terms of Hickey v Mumford, I think it's blatantly clear Hickey won out. Significantly.
No harm is giving credit where it's due. The Hick was enormous today & has epic upside.

How dare you, JB. Our self appointed, resident expert is never wrong. He's a teacher, don't you know?joffaboy wrote:lol - in most posters here Hickey clearly outpointed Mumford.BigMart wrote:How did Mummy and Giles play?

Kicked three goals and prominent at both ends.
As someone pointed out nearly 50% hitouts to advantage, Mumford 25%.
You called him a gumby. You are clearly wrong
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!
Re: Hickey breakout game
Mumford is much better than that, but still he was well beaten today by Dean Cox err Tom Hickeydragit wrote:Poor mans warnock.

No idea how Hickey played but if he lost the hit outs but kicked 3 goals and got kicks around the ground then he is exactly how i want a ruckman to play. Can we now forget hit outs. please.

Much better than the dude the Pelican sent to the HawksThe Fireman wrote:Hickey is the real deal.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

I reckon the Hawks fan forum may think that dude is ok. Why do we need to knock the other guy. Why cant we be happy for both of them?

Re: Hickey breakout game
Totally agree. Mac is a terrific pickup for the Hawks, Dunstan is playing good football for us. We have Acres to come and Savage while not setting the world on fire could be handy.plugger66 wrote:Wayne42 wrote:Much better than the dude the Pelican sent to the HawksThe Fireman wrote:Hickey is the real deal.

Hickey filling the Mac void.
Everyone happy (except possibly one person)
Lance or James??

I dont. You were the one who said it. You do realise that dont you?
Re: Hickey breakout game
The thing for me was hickey's willingness to push forward as well as push to the areas he was needed. He had presence.

Re: Hickey breakout game
We have to remember that Hickey isn't a ruck entering his prime, he's a developing kid and he looked really good today.
He's improving.
Whilst he's not quite at the standard I want him to be at, he's showing signs that he will develop into one of the leagues premier rucks. McEvoy may be the better player at the moment but it really feels like a matter of time until Hickey overtakes him
what more can you want.

Nothing at all but thats why you should never decide on players, especially ruckmen after 2 or 3 years.

They actually mean stuff all as well going by last years stats. A ruckman kicking goals, getting marks around the ground and using his body to create space means everything.

I reckon Hickey and Roo split the votes today, Ben was never in that company.
How did those contested marks look on the telly?

Re: Hickey breakout game
Just love big 'Reg' Hickey. Slotted 3 goals for us today.
In honour of those who went before, in the dark and desperate years.
