Fantastic Saturday afternoon at the footy
Took the kids, caught the Saints Express, kids got a photo with Trevor the Saint, we bloody well won, whole carriage singing the song in the train on the way back and home in time to rejuvenate the hat hair and head out again to celebrate.
LOVE the 1.40 pm game, loving all our players right now, especially the babies who are standing SO tall (and even Beau, who absolutely gives his all) ...
4 in a row, GO THE MIGHTY SAINTS!
Here endeth the gushing.

It actually was an entertaining game, more so because we won. Enjoy the moment, the future is there, but despite our good start to the year, it is a few years away.
Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

Was discussing our youth with another sainter at the game.. imo there's a few experts out there that owe us a revised assessment. We have some very decent youth.

Second on the ladder for the next, oooh, 20 minutes. Then we'll slump to third.

Membership numbers are poor. Looks like the fair weather brigade have dropped off.St Lenny wrote:A lot said we wouldn't win one. So we are doing ok. Show your support, buy a membership.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

And at one stage in the first quarter we spotted the new Prez taking his seat towards the front rows in the next aisle. There was a bit of murmur which seem to express surprise and delight of the crowd.
Good start for the President and the club.

Re: Fantastic Saturday afternoon at the footy
Wish there was a like button for this. I spent the first half sitting behind a Saints supporter who spent the entire half saying how s*** all of our players were. It got me wondering, given how much abuse is thrown around, does anyone just go to the footy to enjoy watching a game. Thanks to your post it appears I'm not the only one.SemperFidelis wrote:Took the kids, caught the Saints Express, kids got a photo with Trevor the Saint, we bloody well won, whole carriage singing the song in the train on the way back and home in time to rejuvenate the hat hair and head out again to celebrate.

Its this attitude that stops people from joining up again. Stop bagging prospective members, or they will never come back.Wayne42 wrote:Membership numbers are poor. What a great day, had a ball. Great atmosphere created by Saints fans, i never thought a GWS game would be so exciting!
That Eli goal was the most enjoyable goal for a while, really got the place rocking!
And I could actually enjoy it with my little boy. Bring back Saturday arvo footy!
To top it off, my boy got a footy from Gilbo after the game!

You'll find he will often sit in the 'crowd'...our family take up a row in that area so he will sit with the family.I Love Peter Kiel wrote:ozrulestrace wrote:And at one stage in the first quarter we spotted the new Prez taking his seat towards the front rows in the next aisle. I thought it was the best atmosphere at a Saints game for a long time, possibly since we last played finals! The crowd really got into it and it made the day thoroughly enjoyable.paulski wrote:What a great day, had a ball. I'm not sure how long he sat there, but as a life long Saints supporter it's great he hasn't forgotten what it means to sit in the heartland.I Love Peter Kiel wrote:ozrulestrace wrote:And at one stage in the first quarter we spotted the new Prez taking his seat towards the front rows in the next aisle. More so than those glory towners Presidents in the media or the carpetbaggers at Freo.

I got to sit in a corporate box walked straight into a lift with concierge and sat bathed in sunshine all day while they brought free drinks and food to me. That is as good as it gets. I wanna be rich now.
