Hickey breakout game
I'm calling it midway through the second quarter.
Stung by constant media incredulity as to how St Kilda could possibly have let one of the league's "premier ruckmen" go to the Hawks, The Lovebite has turned in a game which we will all remember as the one where he announced himself as one of the best.

No, he's no good. Our resident expert, BM, has told us so constantly. Today must be an aberration, just like last week.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Re: Hickey breakout game
While Ben had some great games...he never has had the complete ruckmans game that Hickey has on display today.
Great mobility too.

But if you look at it closer:whiskers3614 wrote:Glass half empty:
Lost the hitouts by more than 2 to 1
Hickey won 10 Hitouts to Advantage from 20 Hitouts, recording a 50% Advantage Rate.
Mumford won 11 Hitouts to Advantage from 46 Hitouts, recording a 23.9% Advantage Rate.
A lot to work on, but I say that's not half empty.

Re: Hickey breakout game
Mumford is a beast a virtual immovable object in ruck situations but Hickey outpointed him around the ground with 11 mark and 3 goals - his work rate was fantastic and he will only further improve with more experiencewhiskers3614 wrote:Glass half empty:

Re: Hickey breakout game
I thought his ruck work was better last week but his overall game was better today.
Re: Hickey breakout game
How did Mummy and Giles play?
Mmm? I'd suggest they were ranked 1 & 2 for GWS
However, Hickey played a very good 'around the ground' game....

Kicked three goals and prominent at both ends.
As someone pointed out nearly 50% hitouts to advantage, Mumford 25%.
You called him a gumby. You are clearly wrong

11 marks - 3 contested - 3 goals - not bad for a gumby who cant take a contested mark and kick a goalBigMart wrote:How did Mummy and Giles play?

All game I was thinking ... "Up yours Eddie !!"
McGuire kept going on last night about us giving up Big Ben.
Maybe a bad decision short term but a very wise decision long term !
... And then we have Longer ...
