Savage should not be dropped!!!!
He should be given at least 6 games in a row to get used to his new environment. To those that are already calling for him to be dropped, you have no idea. Give him some time and he will become the corner stone of our midfield for the next 10 years.

Agree he should get games to settle in but, citywest wrote:He should be given at least 6 games in a row to get used to his new environment. "cornerstone of our midfield for next ten years" is over-egging the pudding somewhat!

Re: Savage should not be dropped!!!!
It's true he didn't get much of it this game, but I whenever he did he did something good, and did some creative things at some stages to keep the ball in our posession. Some poor kicking in some parts of the game, but over the next few weeks I think he'll turn out ok.

Re: Savage should not be dropped!!!!
So if he plays five absolute rubbish games we should give him a sixth?
I think he should be treated like other recruits, I am sure the coach would want them to play consecutive games if it's possible
But that's not always the case.
whatever the coach abd selectors decide is ok with me, he should only get games if they think he deserves them.

He showed a bit during the nab challenge. Poor last night. I reckon safe for another week or two. Re-assess then !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

No idea if he should be dropped or not but based on previous posts if he played well you would say it was a bad trade.

Round One selection (currently number 18) from Hawthorn.
Round One Free Agency compensation selection (currently number 19) from Hawthorn.
So for Ben and pick 59, we got Savage, Dunstan and Acres.
Even if Savage is a dud (and e is not) we are well in front in the long term. Savage also has great PR value for us in NZ as well (a different type of steak knives).

Opinions are like arseholes, everybody's got one.
Re: Savage should not be dropped!!!!
I was watching him on Sat night and he looked a bit lost. He's probably still got the Hawthorn system running through his veins. We got him in for a reason so need to keep playing him to see what he's got. He looked smaller than I thought he would be.
Re: Savage should not be dropped!!!!
I was one of the people suggesting he be dropped. Probably for two reasons, first because he had a shocker of a game and it was not acceptable for someone of his ability and standing in the pecking order. Secondly because we have a couple of automatic ins next week and almost no one else deserved to be dropped.
But, I do agree that he is an important part of the midfield and should be given a chance to settle into the side. That negates reason one.
If there are a couple of injuries then reason two is also negated.
Although I certainly do not subscribe to the view that he, or any player, should be given full immunity for 6 consecutive games. That's just stupid.

Re: Savage should not be dropped!!!!
Straw man post.
I've read a lot of posts saying Savage had a stinker / which he did .
But no one saying he should or would be dropped this week
OP is arguing against a non existent position.

Re: Savage should not be dropped!!!!
Looking at savages history over the last two years he only averages about 13 touches so... he doesnt generally touch the ball that much more.... what sort of player is he meant to be an outside runner?
