Sorry if already a thread but he really impressed me tonight - tap looked ok and moved well
Having watched us monstered out of tap for a little while thought it as a nice change

I certainly was not longing for Mac tonight. He's looking like he'll be a very good ruckman.

Big Mouth should have a look at his performance. Top stuff from Tom.

Re: Hickey
Typical nasty comments?
He moved around the ground well, linked well....
He was out pointed in marking contests twice against Mids? Which was disappointing 0 contested Marks
He was beaten 40-24 in hit outs and his opponent was one of Melbournes best
But he played a very good game.... Love him to impose himself physically (especially aerially)

Re: Hickey
Great call Teflon, hickey was immense tonight. Best game I've seen him play. Real presence and impact. Though Stanley did well as backup too
I am marching in the Saints army

Big guys take longer to develop
Hickey looks like he is improving. That's all you can ask

Re: Hickey
Yes he was Joffa
7/10 for mine.... Possibly the 6-7th best Saint
On Ben
5. 'Big Boy’ a big buy for Hawks
Much as Lake was the recruit of 2013, Ben McEvoy could well be the League’s best pick-up this season and the Hawks already look better off for having him in brown and gold. The 'big boy' shaded Matthew Leuenberger in the ruck and teamed well with David Hale to give Hawthorn an edge. While the centre clearances were keenly contested, the Hawks did experiment with personnel in the centre square and rarely used what might be considered their best clearance team in the middle.
He had a great game..... As did Hickey
Reminds me off BJ who? When Arryn got a few kicks at HB

Re: Hickey
At halftime I saw hitouts and Demons were well ahead, but then saw the hitouts to advantage and we were leading which made sense. Being the leading ruck maybe has made him step it up a bit. Seemed to be getting some chemistry happening with the younger mids. He seems a smart footballer that will only get better.

Ben is a solid B grader, BJ a strong A grader…
Ben will never be AA...
Re: Hickey
So someone saying "I didn't miss McEvoy" can't remind me of the silly suggestions about BJ?
Keep trying Maverick?

Re: Hickey
Hickey did well tonight and shows justification in the early pick. Lee is the dud pick, been told for those around back then that he is a worse player than Jodi Arnol who was also an early pick.
Apparently Lee was woeful for Sandy today. What on earth did they see in this guy to trade such an early pick? What a waste.

Could be anything in 2 years.
Agree, glad we traded Ben while he had currency.
Hickey did as much, if not more than what Ben would have achieved without the extra development that Ben has.
Can only get better and more consistent.

Re: Hickey
Very happy with Hickey instead of mcevoy - especially considering who we got for pick 18! Heck, savage could not play another game and we'll still have won from that deal!

Re: Hickey
Hickey was good tonight but some who rate hit outs seem all of a sudden dont rate them. Amazing. And why was he good, because he got the ball around the ground.

Re: Hickey
I like the idea of a ruckman who can get more than six inches off the ground at tap outs.

Re: Hickey
Thought he was great - seemed to be on the field pretty well all night which might explain why he didn't impose himself on a few more contests - hard to win all the sprint races when your running a marathon
