Anyone who drives whilst suspended is.
Firstly he's stuffed up losing his license and then gives the law the middle finger. Not to mention the drink issue and not checking.
I really hope that's enough for to us dis him even if the 18 month ban holds.

I agree Vacuous space. The proportion of punishment to 'the crime' seems arbitrary and motivated on raising this organisation's profile in the minds of the general public. From the beginning i have thought this arseada clique a mickey mouse organisation. Grandstanding, seeking out the easy targets and doing their level best to present themselves above the general view of natural justice. Not surprised at their continued efforts at attention grabbing. And on the essendon issue they'll melt away from a serious punishment in this 'too legally challenging' case.vacuous space wrote:Why? What's so horrible about taking 32mg of Methyl Synephrine on game day that would require the maximum sentence? I would have thought the maximum punishment would be reserved for exceptional circumstances. I question why Saad deserves anything more than a slap on the wrist for what he did. As far as I can tell, the answer is because ASADA doesn't do slaps on the wrist. They go after everybody as hard as they can. I don't understand why. We don't follow a sport with a long history of drug cheating.saintspremiers wrote:Good to hear. He should get 2 years.
Even if we accept that Saad has been very naughty and needs a severe punishment, an 18-month sentence makes the most sense. A full 2-year ban means that he'll miss in excess of 2 years, which becomes a cruel and unusual punishment for a first time offender. I cannot see why 18-months would be unacceptable from ASADA's perspective.
I don't think players care about minor infractions. Roo's happy to have his photo taken with Von Miller. Most fans only care as far as it advantages their team. I really question why we want or need ASADA around the sport. Like any arm of WADA, they seem very capable of punishing the careless and incapable of catching those with malicious intent. I see no reason why the AFL shouldn't be able to handle this stuff in house.
The boy can play and we can build a defence around him that will have respect.

The thing that sh/ts me is that it's taken them two weeks to come out and say they're want to extend saads sentence and more than a year to say nothing about the ess saga . Not a thing!!

Exactly, what does the scale look like in terms of punishment vs infringement?70s sainter wrote: I agree . WhAt would he have got if he was caught taking steroids- oh that's right- two years.
mild stimulants/diuretics all the way through to EPO/steroids… surely they need to be classified accordingly.

ASADA ought to change their name to the PWA, Petty Wankers Association.

"His admission this week on radio SEN that he had consumed 'Before Battle' on match days in the past could have prompted ASADA's appeal.
St Kilda has been committed to helping the small forward handle his suspension and the club has been open to the possibility of re-drafting him, granted he is currently eligible to play in 2015.'

USADA defo used positive tests as evidence...

Yes, the Essendon case is completely different. What they did is clearly worse. Positive tests are irrelavant. ASADA emphasise this all the time. Armstrong was not busted due to positive tests.

Re: ASADA to Appeal SAAD Decision
If he does get a longer ban , i would like to think we could pick him up as a vfl player .
When we have our own reserves we are going to need top up players !
why not him .

So he's out until 2016 anyways. Or do you mean he should play for Saints VFL in 2016?
I don't think anyone would disagree with that.

Good to hear.
I hope he gets the 2 years and gets it handled quickly.
Then they need to make public statements about speeding up the Essendon process.
Saad will never play AFL again so it doesn't effect us either way.

Need to make sure blokes like Saad arent allowed to play and tarnish the image of the game. How can a bloke like Marley Williams turn his life around and keep on the straight path with such bad influences running around.

Re: ASADA to Appeal SAAD Decision
Bit harsh in my opinion. How will you feel if the Essendon process fails to gather any evidence and they don't receive any infraction notices and don't receive any penalties and Saad gets two years for an energy drink or protein shake as a show of strength? Because that is a distinct possibility and even a likelihood at this stage.saintspremiers wrote:Good to hear.

ARSEADA SHOW PONIES
desertsaint - exactly right.
All this make it up today organisation and make it up again tomorrow if we didn't get what we thought we wanted today is pathetic indeed.
I'm still amazed Saad has already received more than a year. It is hard to take this organisation seriously when there is an absence of clear and proportional reprimand. Arseada are operating in a world where on-going syringe taking of a whole range of questionable ingredients including illegally imported ingredients are still not cause for reprimand for a entire club - amazing.
No doubt because the legal stand-off and compromised stance of the afl (who many regard as being cognizant of the syringe-driven cocktail program at ess) will drag on beyond 2014 and thereby facilitate the dons to continue business as usual.
During all this Arseada scramble to get in the media headlines once again to pin their highest reprimand on one single afl player he was very foolish or unable to think through his actions while taking a gulp of his mate's milk-bar purchased drink.
2 years , even 18 monthes - Really?
Now l understand what the term 'GET A LIFE' may mean.
