Was last year so bad results wise for Scott?dragit wrote:Bottom 2? How dare they...

Looks like I picked a bad year to give up sniffing glue
They will not grow old, as those from more northern States grow old.
For them it will always be three-quarter-time, with the scores level
and the wind advantage in the final term.

5 wins was probably only slightly under par on paper, but I think the last 2 wins were pretty meaningless... We lost a couple that we really should have won.SainterK wrote:Was last year so bad results wise for Scott?dragit wrote:Bottom 2? How dare they...
Sounds like results were not the main concern with Scott.

Re: 2014 Preview - The Age
Pretty fair assessment. At least there was some optimism in there.
It's not all bad having the press predicting for us to finish at the foot of the ladder. Might provide the team some incentive to prove everyone wrong.

Who else did they have in the bottom two? I cant see anyone finishing behind us this year. Not unless we have been conning everyone.

Re: 2014 Preview - The Age
A fair assessment, I thought. Without mid-strength, we will really struggle. Jack Steven's 6-8 weeks foot injury will cost a lot of momentum. Joey is slowing down and unfortunately, Lenny may only be a bit player this year. Still, as reality sinks in, a lot to look forward to with our young guys - just don't expect many wins.

...well starting the year with so many good outs in a period when some of our most winnable games is going to hurt.dragit wrote:Bottom 2? How dare they...
Like our pick-ups for the future. But this year is not going to be pretty.
I will just look to see ow our next gen is developing.

Yeah I was joking, think bottom 2-3 is a pretty reasonable guess, saints fans are slowly coming round to the reality.saintsRrising wrote:...well starting the year with so many good outs in a period when some of our most winnable games is going to hurt.dragit wrote:Bottom 2? How dare they...

Re: 2014 Preview - The Age
Trying to compare to last season rather than 2000...we did miss Goddard obviously in 2013 and NDS just cruised most of last season IMO with McEvoy ..and Lenny when playing, struggling to have any impact on games as well and I don't think Lenny will have much impact this season. The first half of this season we will definitely miss Steven.. and Monty for the first game at least.
We still have a fit and experienced group in Roo, Dempster, Armo, Geary, Maister, Simpkin and the improving Webster, Saunders and Wright- quality in Savage, a real goer in Dunstan plus a couple of others, and what appears to be a more versatile ruck combo in Hickey and Longer in tandem.
It is not all doom and gloom and we should be able to win at least as many games as last season and hopefully a couple more as the playing group and coach settle in during the year.
Get to games and support the club!

Not sure how much success Maister and Simpkin have had . And Viney, N.Jones and Tyson are legit.
2010 was 4 seasons ago.

Re: 2014 Preview - The Age
I am interested to see how many and which of, our young players make it. Some have already written Seb Ross off, I have'nt yet. At this stage it looks like the best of the youngsters are Webster, Wright, Longer, Dunstall. We have'nt seen the best of Billings yet I know, and we have seen very little of White, Acres, and Markworth.

Dunstall is to old i reckon but he would be good if he could get back to full fitness.
