Good news re Rd 1
At least we aren't the only club with injuries. Just read on afl.com.au that Jamar, Dawes and Clarke all won't be fit for the first round. That means that an (albeit talented) 19 year old in Hogan, with Howe will be their fwd targets. Surely will be easier for Bruce, Fish and Delaney to handle you would think.

Certainly evens things up a little more then...still going to be a interesting game to see where both clubs are at with their new coaches.

Re: Good news re Rd 1
The game is won and lost in the middle, and as embarrassing as it may be, the Demons will have a better midfield unit than us... We will be up against it...
Add Steven to the mix and I'd be very confident, Joey and Lenny even more so.. Will be interesting to see if we tag Nathan Jones, as he is by far their main man in the middle... Even with Cross, Tyson, Michie & Vince, they will still rely a lot of Jones' ball winning ability..
Garland is also out for them who I rate as a very decent player...

Re: Good news re Rd 1
Think we will also be without Fisher seen as he has not been named for this weeks practice match.
Unless he pays for Sandy in next weeks practice game against Frankston, but personally I would not pla him based on is lead in.
So it looks like no Fisher, Gilbert, Steven, Montagna and Hayes. I am struggling to see how we can beat Melbourne with the midfield we will have. Interesting that Seb Ross has been left out of Saturdays squad so one would think that he is not going to be considered which if true is a worry given the outs we already have in the midfield and if not injured would be a major kick up the ass for him.

I can understand Markworth or playing as I think they are bringing him back slowly from his knee.
Siposs however not making the team is a real concern, it is not like we are a star studded forward line to get into.

Is there any news on Fisher or Bruce?
Starting to get concerned about Fisher now as he has missed a lot of football.
Hope we don't have to rely on Gwilt as a KPP in back line again.

Re: Good news re Rd 1
Given there is 2 weeks between the Alberton match and the Dees game it gives Fisher a chance to have a hit out next week.
IMO one of our training sessions needs to be an intraclub type practice match, otherwise Fisher isno chance. He needs to be tested out fully at training

As long as it close I'll be happy.
A good three quarter effort is what I want to see.

I am going for the scoreless draw, they will have no forward line and we will have no midfield.

Re: Good news re Rd 1
We probably don't have as good a midfield but we don't have a great forward line either. I think it will be close either way. Plenty have gone a bit overboard in how bad we are based on the loss to GWS. Jack Steven is a huge loss but we still have enough talent to pip them. Their midfield is much improved though.
Re: Good news re Rd 1
How does us not having a great forward line counterbalance us not having a good midfield? Doesn't that make us worse?gringo wrote:We probably don't have as good a midfield but we don't have a great forward line either.

It doesn't I think we are stronger in defence than them. We have a largely untried forward line besides Rooey.
