Re: Sandringham vs Richmond Practice Game Friday 6pm
3/4 time sandy up by a few points. Minchy, Acres kicked goals that quarter. Dunnell had the ball on a string for about 10 mins.
Sippa excellent, looks much fitter and prepared to run harder. One great example that quarter where he initiated play deep inside defensive 50 and then was able to receive from a kick deep inside our forward 50.
Acres looks like a beautiful kick, his goal was from about 55 metres out on the run, went straight through the middle.
Holmes is really mobile and very aggressive, he tackles to hurt and looks like a mountain. Teach him to read the play and we could have one. (interesting that there is a runner thats basically following him around and talking to him off the ball telling him where to run to)

I'm glad you thought it was Acres. They called it as LeGrice but I also thought Blakers and there's no replays.BringBackMadDog wrote: Acres looks like a beautiful kick, his goal was from about 55 metres out on the run, went straight through the middle.

agree on sipposs, very impressed. His running to position to take the handball and break the lines very impressive. Acres looks like a classy onballer, just needs time.
Dunnell finds the ball but just too slow to use it. Thus he either uses it ineffective or turns it over.
templetons tackling is excellent. Buzzes around and makes things happen.
Impressed with a very young sandy side. Key positions might be a problem depending on how the saints go.

Re: Sandringham vs Richmond Practice Game Friday 6pm
weird last quarter, got really dark, can't give much insight as I couldn't see the other side of the ground. Markworth is all class, one of the few guys who didnt fumble. Dunnel and Minchy got a lot of it.

Don't think Minchy is a small forward, not enough tricks in his bag, he will be a midfielder or nothing.Con Gorozidis wrote:stinger wrote:maxie's young brother playing for sandy......

He is a workhorse, does all the hard things but nothing very spectacular. He will have to build a career out of working hard accumulating possessions and being very good defensively.
Re: Sandringham vs Richmond Practice Game Friday 6pm
For a game where there supposed to be no spectators...there were at least 2-300 people at the game...
The Punt Road facility is first class and well done to Richmond for letting the Sandy and Saints players use their pool after the game...still a lot of work to be done in front of the old Grandstand
Didn't appear to be any injury concerns after the game...Siposs was rested for the last 1/4...Josh Bruce got belted in the nose and thought he may have broken it...Markworth got through ok...he was wrapt just to be playing again..
Max Hudghton was there having a look at his brother..
Simon McPhee was reasonably pleased after the game with the effort shown against what was a pretty strong Richmond team

Re: Sandringham vs Richmond Practice Game Friday 6pm
would this have been classed as a VFL game?
print media reporting next weeks game- also a 'practice' match would be the first VFL/AFL game at the ground-- so guess Sandringham has beaten Essendon to the punch...

Re: Sandringham vs Richmond Practice Game Friday 6pm
Good point...it was organised at very short notice so I'm not sure if it has been classed as a VFL game...There were no official goal umpires or maybe even the field umpires...saintbrat wrote:would this have been classed as a VFL game?

it was a 'game' or ' match simulation
but as no ' official' score kept it wouldn'tbe legit-
anyway-
sandringham looked to move the ball well- and be intune with each other- and atleast didn't do any of the ' lie on my tummy and spread my arms' and I'll get a free that I saw from a couple of tigers..

Thanks for that md - but these days and with Richo as a bit of a blue collar coach - he might like a hard working guy who can put on fwd pressure?BringBackMadDog wrote: Don't think Minchy is a small forward, not enough tricks in his bag, he will be a midfielder or nothing.

He might be less impressed with the guy with tricks who doesnt defend.
But point taken. Hes a good 'goer' as they used to say.
Am I to assume that Stanley didnt dominate?

Re: Sandringham vs Richmond Practice Game Friday 6pm
Nope he didn't dominate, had a purple patch in the 2nd qtr but as always drifted in and out of the game. The dominant ruck man on the ground was Oren Stephenson. I watched Stanley pretty closely, he tends to do everything at half paced. When he plays forward, his leads are half hearted and always mistimed. In the ruck he doesn't like body contact.Con Gorozidis wrote:Thanks for that md - but these days and with Richo as a bit of a blue collar coach - he might like a hard working guy who can put on fwd pressure?BringBackMadDog wrote: Don't think Minchy is a small forward, not enough tricks in his bag, he will be a midfielder or nothing.

No it would be classed as an ammo game. Fancy the media doing that to us.

When did they last play a VFL game at Punt Rd?
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
Re: Sandringham vs Richmond Practice Game Friday 6pm
Good to hear Siposs went ok, but the boy obviously has a lot of work to do to get Richo's confidence - not in the team for last week's senior game and not even in the squad this week! Let's hope he forces his way in by dominating at Sandy.

He loves a goal Siposs, doesn't he. Beautiful kick and a natural forward.
