I hope the club pays its media performers plenty. My Flying Pig loves his Red Bull  !!

Maybe they wear them at home etc.

Complete rubbish. He wouldnt be at a public event, marching, if he had a serious foot injury. Now which of those to statements makes more sense?

Well its quite clear now that Cons statement makes much more sense however I stand by the fact that some players wear moonboots between games and still play and they also wear them in public even if they dont have a serious injury because the club tell them they have to.

I wish they put him on LTI, tbh and open up the spot. Takes the pressure off Gilbert and gives hope to the rookies, e.g. Weller.

We've lost one of our toughest, fittest and best running players prob until round 6 at least. A big loss but a chance for someone else I guess.

I think they mean 6 weeks from now. He'll be 50/50 for Round 1.

So what is it, 6 weeks, 3 months, half the season?

Everyone givinghysterical opinion and only one report in the paper saying Round 1.

Would like to ask the posters where thet get their information from?

Luckily its not the navicular, thats the one that ruins careers (think Matthew Egan from Geelong) Its only a small metatarsal so he should be Ok, the only issue is he will be off legs for a few weeks which means he will lose some conditioning, probably miss 2-3 weeks of the season proper. No big deal, one thing we do not lack is half backs.

I based round six on a broken bone means no running for the next six weeks ,is a big blow to fitness levels so maybe six weeks to get back in the seniors. Hope I am wrong and he is ready for round one.

I get a sinking feeling we're going to see this a lot this season. Gilbert - foot - 2 weeks.

I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

If you think he will get to round 1 or round 2 teams - please contact me with betting details. He's not going to make it to the team by then by any stretch.

No doubt Gilbert has the potential to be one of our better players.

Though really this year it doesn't matter, this just opens up an opportunity for someone else.

My guess is moon boot for 6 weeks. Then slowly build up running. Won't be match fit until 12 weeks from now which is round 4 or so.

Im disappointed because I think Gilbo is going to be one of our best players in the next 2 years - But hey big door just opened for Jimmy Webster to play in this first 3 matches on a wing or half back.

Lets see what Jimmy W can do against players his own age in those first few games. I reckon he's a very very good prospect....
Dare I say it but i reckon he has a bit of Luke Hodge about him...

I've been around - but don't come here as much.. mostly posting on bigfooty. That one works with tapatalk and is moderated more to my liking. I commented on this one as I've had a metatarsal injury an year or so back but managed to avoid surgery. So, I had some idea (and sympathy).

can't understand how some ppl think they can predict someones injury layoff, unless they happen to be the doctor that assessed the player. Even they can get it wrong

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

I know this poster -- his name escapes me --that is well known for claiming he admits when he's wrong. Wouldn't now be a good time for an admission.

I think it is exactly an admission. Why would anyone care about being wrong. We dont even know who we are and even if we did who cares if you are wrong. Cairnsman made a habit of it sticking up for SW.
