I reckon the Giants will win 8 or 10 games this year, and they have to beat someone, so I wouldn't be counting on that one just yet.
Based on what BH? Not having a dig but just interested in why you would think that. I actually think they might move backwards a bit this season. Their form line is nothing to speak of, they look light on for leadership for mine and their administration is a bit unstable compared to the Suns.

i agree, they are still a way off IMO. The backline is still a little suspect for mine and a lot depends on the midfield just winning the games for them. It's a laborious game style. Cameron is a gun but they need Patton or Boyd to come on quickly.

I know very little about any other teams so I suppose it's just based on assumption! They're been around a while and have a lot of high draft picks so I reckon they might start playing well soon.

But if you're making me actually justify it, my reasoning would be that players usually hit their straps between 40 and 60 games, and GWS have a lot of promising guys approaching that bracket:

Greene 38, Smith 38, Treloar 38, Cameron 37, Hampton 35, Mohr 35, Kennedy 34, Shiel 33, Bugg 32, Coniglio 30, Tomlinson 26

Also a few top 5 draft picks hanging around:

Hoskin-Elliott 19, Whitfield 19, Patton 10, Buntine 9, Plowman 6, O'Rourke 1

If we had three or four guys of this calibre we'd be ecstatic. They've got 17!

And on top of that, they've added three premiership players - Mumford, Shaw and Hunt - and Dylan Addison, while losing very little in terms of contribution last year. None of Cornes, Brogan, Thornton or O'hAilpin will be missed too much.

In some ways they're comparable to where Port were last year. Port had a bunch of kids with 10 to 30 games and some of them were very high draft picks. Comparable, but GWS have a lot more kids with more experience, and most of them were even higher draft picks.

So, yeah, I reckon I agree with myself that they will do better again this year. Six to ten wins would be par for them, I'd say.

Fair enough. The suns shocked me last year, I just hope we don't get caught on the hop again this year.

Yes, can live with that. I think we'll beat Essendon even if we drop one or both of the first two 'easy' rounds.

That's a frighteningly deep pool of talent, BH. If they can keep most of that group together for the next three to four years, then they could become the Lions of this decade. I just hope they jettison a few of them our way!

I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!
