Just to explain WHY the bans are published (besides the implied chest beating or puffing or whatever I am meant to be doing) the reason is ... it is IN THE FORUM RULES!

PENALTIES

Three official warnings in a 1 week (7 day) period will result in a 1 month ban.

If a poster receives 3 bans within a 12 month period, it will result in a permanent ban.

The posting of any pornographic material in the forum or via Private Message will result in an immediate permanent ban.

Intentional forum hijacking by starting multiple threads will result in an immediate permanent ban.

Bans will be published for all posters to see.

stinger is the only one I can see that was breaking any of the forum rules in those locked posts. What have the other two done apart from call him out?

I'd appeal that sentence grumpy and plugs. Maybe get it down to 1 day as it may have been reckless.

I come to discuss StK... In the process if my comments ever get me a holiday so be it? I will never be afraid to give my POV and won't be shouted down by the same pack of ....... People! Do they actually think they can not allow someone an opinion?

On the moderation, obviously I've been warned a few times and won't be upset if I break the rules and am held accountable, certainly won't whinge... And as long as rules are applied evenly and are clear... That's cool.
Simon is doing a good job IMO (appantly I must type that know so people know what I type is just my opinion and I'm not passing it of as fact... However my opinion is generally a fact to me?)

On the transparency... Also good. Players get weeks for transgressing and it's announced, partly to shame them and set an example. This is the case here... So what, if they weren't crossing the line they'd be fine.

When it comes to being threatened or baited on here, I have a bit of experience... And at the end of the day, it's just most likely people have not a great deal so they get their little bit of Dutch courage or power on an anonymous site... Most would fall to bits in a real situation.

They should all be equal either 1 week, 1 month or no ban with a caution.

However I would add that backfromtheusa should be banned as well for creating the forum and as such should take some of the responsibility.

--> the reason Stinger got 1 month was because he was sitting on 2 warnings in a week already which automatically qualifies him for a 1 month ban, otherwise it would have been an even banning of 1 week for each.

--> as stated that forum exists to remove rubbish squabbles from the Fan Forum which is working quite well and then the participants can argue on in the new forum if they wish but under the rules of that forum

--> actually I expected exactly what it has delivered - a place where squabbles can be sent (cleans up the Fan Forum) and gives posters a place to argue but as expected it goes into illegal territory of bullying then bans will be issued. The only surprise is that it took 6 months for posters to cross the line in the Animal Enclosure.

As much as I don't like seeing the three people being suspended because I value them as good contributors to general discussion on the forum, I think the moderators are taking the necessary measures to improving the forum.

A zero tolerance on feral behaviour, trolls and general nastiness sounds like a positive step to me.

Fine them 5,000 posts for each transgression.

Just to explain.

Under ANIMAL ENCLOSURE rules (where the offenses occurred) the moderators do not have to stick with 1 month and can issue lower or higher penalties.

The three posters received a one week penalty in the ANIMAL ENCLOSURE however because Stinger already had two warnings in the FAN FORUM this elevated his ban to the one month as per FAN FORUM rules.

Under the rules Bans must be published in the forums and as these bans crossed over from the ANIMAL ENCLOSURE to the FAN FORUM due to Stingers ban - the notice is in both forums.

To clarify the rules in ANIMAL ENCLOSURE state:

BANNED BEHAVIOUR

You may not threaten or bully another forum poster.

TOLERATED BEHAVIOUR

Baiting, belittling, insults, swearing and abuse may be encountered by posters and readers in this forum. While as ‘one offs’ they will not be deemed as banned behaviour, constant use of these behaviours directed at individual posters WILL be deemed as bullying.

MODERATION

The moderation team has the right to edit or delete threads or posts that constitute banned behaviour and at their discretion even suspend the offending poster (with NO WARNINGS) for a period determined by the moderation team, if they deem it necessary.

IMHO the banning of people from the main forum because of what has occurred in the Animal Enclosure really defeats the purpose of the Animal Enclosure. I'm not really sure what the purpose is, like most of the posters in this thread I don't go to the Animal Enclosure, but I'm sure the plan was not to get posters banned from the main forum.

BTW, I 67% totally agree that we have lost 3 valuable posters from this forum.

The site is the forum and all forums are part of SS. Might have different rules and conditions but you have membership over the entire site. So the way you conduct yourself over the forum has a bearing on your membership.

Technically each of our "forums" are "boards" within the forum.

The warnings work across all "boards" that is the total forum.

So you can within. 1 week get 1 warning in general forum (board) another in Fan Forum (another board) and the another in say the Opposition Forum (board) and those 3 warnings give a 1 month ban.

It is not 3 warnings on each board.

The warnings and the bans are forum wide.

Not even sure we can (even if we wanted to) implement a warning / banning system that is board specific ... And nor should we have to ... What should happen is posters should not breach rules! If they do ... Then they can expect to be warned / banned accordingly - although as a Moderator I have gone down the path of education rather than banning but in the instance the 3 had breached the rules to the point they left me with no choice.

A 1 week ban is pretty light.

Stingers is only 1 month because it was his 3rd warning issued across 1 week.

I appreciate what you're doing BFUSA, and I appreciate that you can't be banned from an individual board. But I find it strange that a board is set up with looser rules than the main board, but it is actually stricter in that you can be banned without warning as opposed to three warnings elsewhere.

Of course things are different for racial abuse, threats of violence, etc.
