Unlike last year, the Saints will not be sending its full squad on the camp. Lenny Hayes will stay in Melbourne for the impending birth of his first child while
James Gwilt,
Nathan Wright,
Dylan Roberton and
Rhys Stanley will also remain at home as they recover from surgeries and injury.

what a load of bollocks, as if he would be "coming down off something" in the middle of a training camp in Colorado.

another 'sick' experience for the young Jack
teamed with the captain for his first training session

http://www.saints.com.au/news/2013-11-2 ... beginnings
I hadn’t actually met Nick until I got to the hotel last night but he’s been really good to me. It’s a little surreal lifting weights with a legend of the game like him. Obviously I wasn’t lifting weights quite as heavy as him but he gave me plenty of guidance and encouragement along the way.

Jarryn Geary is another one who has been really helpful to me. I’m rooming with Gears on this trip and straight away you can see why he is considered to be one of the real leaders at the club. He’s looked after me well.

One thing that Nick and Gears both told me is not to push myself too hard too early. I want to make a good impression as early as I can but I’ve got to know to keep within my limitations.

A trip like this is good for someone like me. I didn’t really know many of the boys before I was drafted so to be suddenly living with them 24 hours a day is a nice way to fast track those relationships

Just done the flight back in September/October, but only as far as L.A. It goes by surprisingly fast, though landing in the main International terminal in L.A. wouldn't have been fun.
We flew United, who pull up to their own terminal at LAX so you only have to worry about the people on your plane. Actually we set a new record, we were thru Customs and Immigration, had our bags and were out in 20 minutes of landing.
Actually wonder who they flew with from LAX to Colorado Springs.

Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

Already heard some feedback through a contact that there's a great feeling amongst the group and some old hands are already very impressed with the new coach. Looking like we may have got it right !!!

Maybe getting oh so close without actually taking the prize was the impetus the club needed to take the final steps in making the tough calls that are needed, and planning for longer than just today....

tough guys in shorts on a walk through the ice-- to run back down the mountain
http://www.saints.com.au/video/2013-11- ... n-ice-hike

http://www.saints.com.au/news/2013-11-30/go-take-a-hike
With the trek located more than two kilometres above sea level, the air was even thinner than the team had become used to in its two days so far in Boulder.

A steady 50-minute hike through what was at times an icy and slippery terrain was then ramped up to a 3.8km run which was one of the more gruelling tests the players have undergone so far in the camp.

Not for the first time, Jarryn Geary won the time trial with clear distance between him and Jack Steven and Jack Newnes who made up the places on the podium.

Hip scrape....whatever that is. Speaking of scrapes, Jack Steven at the end of the Hike Video looks like he fell over and scraped his hand and fingers. Ouch...
