As long as it takes for them to win a premiership.

Well sort of they did.

Last year there was a mini draft.
GWS was able to auction the rights to pick the two best 17 years who would otherwise have been available to be drafted this year.
They auctioned these two players in return for players and or draft picks which they used last year.
It means that the first 3 picks in this draft were really picks 3, 4, and 5.

But the good news is other than for NSW and Qld zone picks there will no interference with next years draft by Demetriou.
That means that when we win the wooden spoon 2 years running we will get two genuine No 1 picks, the best key position players available.

Mini draft picks had to have been born in the first four months of 1995. Boyd wasn't eligible. Neither was Billings, Bontempelli nor Kolodjashnij. McDonald declined to make himself eligible.

People may have been projecting Hogan and Martin as top-5 picks a year ago, but people were projecting Aish and Sharenberg as top-5 picks a few months ago. A lot can change over that last year of junior. Josh Kelly is a much better prospect now than he was a year ago. Would GWS have taken him over Martin? Would we have opted for Billings over Hogan? It's all speculation. Calling the Boyd pick 'pick 3' is nuts though. He'd have still gone number one if you added in the entirety of last year's draft. We were the second team with a shot at Billings, so it's not exactly pick 5 either.

Another question, how many more years do GWS and GC have a higher salary cap?

As long as the AFL wants it to.

It's the same as asking when will governments and central banks stop market manipulation.

Never.

Yes they did. They had a mid round 1 selection. They have one more, an end of first round to use next year.

FWIW, Gold Coast also had a end of first round this year, and have another next year (tied to Geelongs finishing position).

They were all part of the original compo picks for players they signed, then they traded to get them back.

I'm surprised the AFL didn't give them pick 3 as well to soften the blow of not getting Franklin.

GWS have 17 top 15 picks currently on thier list from the past three years, (they traded Tyson and Adams). This doesn't include Shiels or Cameron, who are 2 of their best players (pre-listed 17 year olds). So they'll add 2 more next year. Thats basically a team of round one picks in four years. Not including Scully, Ward, Palmer and Davis, who are all young and were themselves high picks.

The Salary Cap concessions will stop in 2019 for GWS, they go down each year. THough they will still get the same COLA that the Swans get, although there is some talk of that getting pulled back a bit.

they are also allowed a primary list of up to 50 players ...ten more than anyone else...and up to nine rookies.....

GWS can't compete interest wise with the WSW in the A League so they can try all they like but will never be a well supportered entity

Is that what you truly believe saintspremiers, or is it what you are hoping for?
IMHO, between the years 2018 and 2025 which is when GWS will be at their peak (that's 8 years inclusive), they will have more than 30,000 members for each of those years. Along with at least 2 premiership cups/flags.

I don't think gws will get big. If the nrl gave us another team would we care? I say move them to tassy or darwin... way smaller markets but will end up with more fans imo
