Saints need a decent ruck coach for Longer, Hickey, Lewis and Holmes. I hope we land someone better than Doyle. Someone like Brad Ottens, Darren Jolly or even Matty Primus.

On the Academy side, if St Kilda do not fill Micale's position by next season, that will be 2/3 seasons that the Academy has been in existence without a head!

Pardon my ignorance, but is the Academy position a full time role, or part time like Paul Roos seemed to do with Sydney? The development coach/s are full time (Hudson) but if the head of academy is a part time role, I'd love to see Danny Frawley back at the club. Bring back the Spud.

I wouldn't be surprised if Adam Kingsley moved to the midfield role & Aaron Hamill was given the forward role. I think Danny Sexton will stay as defensive coach.
As for the academy, what about Stan Alves?

At the moment not many coaches want to come to St.Kilda......unfortunately

With all due respect Tony Micale should never have held that position simply because he's only ever been a coach at WAFL level. As good as he may have been i think a person directly involved in the day to day coaching at AFL level be it even assistants roles should be a minimum.Obviously poor Tony became a victim of the SW doings.A loyal man obviously did not want to stay on or was he asked politely to go.

Micale was an assistant coach to John Worsfold for 5 years during the period in which West Coast played in 2 grand finals. He won the award for "assistant coach of the year" in the AFL in 2007.

He is also a quality person and regardless of any affiliation with Watters, he is a loss for us.

Absolute beat-up re: Maxie. He left mid year. Couldn't // didn't want to make the commitment any more. Doing pretty well from his business with what I hear.

he has been a senior assistant in a premiership winning afl team

that aside i agree with you. i had many more points to my argument outside of experience though

look at the issues east perth encountered and before that west coast

sasaint wrote:Not sure if there has already been a post on this but can’t see one. Richo will no doubt be starting to select his assistant coaches, but it is not clear to me who is still on our list.

According to Saints.com we currently only have two assistant coaches, Adam Kingsley (offensive coach) and Danny Sexton (defensive coach). The training photos show Paul Hudson (Development Manager), Tony Brown , Aaron Hamill all helping out.

So is that all? Looks like we are short a couple of assistants? :?

Any thoughts on midfield coach? (Maybe poach Jarrod Cotton)
Ruck coach (Maybe Shaun Rhen)

Your thoughts?
Are we looking to poach a few from Port Adelaide
That would make Koch die of a Koching attack.

+1 My thoughts too. Very shrewd and successful coach in the past.

Midfield clearances and clear winners are needed to make an effective forward line.

You need to protect the ball handler to increase posession efficiency

It would not have been a beat up if Saints had told their members mid year that he left.
