Who will be our new assistant coaches?
Not sure if there has already been a post on this but can’t see one. Richo will no doubt be starting to select his assistant coaches, but it is not clear to me who is still on our list.
According to Saints.com we currently only have two assistant coaches, Adam Kingsley (offensive coach) and Danny Sexton (defensive coach). The training photos show Paul Hudson (Development Manager), Tony Brown , Aaron Hamill all helping out.
So is that all? Looks like we are short a couple of assistants?
Any thoughts on midfield coach? (Maybe poach Jarrod Cotton)
Ruck coach (Maybe Shaun Rhen)
Your thoughts?

Re: Who will be our new assistant coaches?
Assistants at other clubs are already contracted which means you can't poach them to fulfill the same role at your club.
I'd say the coaching staff is set - kingsley, mcphee, sexton etc. That's all folks.

I reckon that Rooey would make a good captain/playing assistant coach along with Lenny as the playing (in the guts) coach.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: Who will be our new assistant coaches?
Cant see why Jolly cant be ruck coach if we get him. Still plenty of.retired players available for assistant coaching roles should they be available, Goo,.Scotty West (not recent ) but looking, Jude Bolton.

Re: Who will be our new assistant coaches?
He is there .
Why would he want stay maybe because we pay him $ Other than that would think you need to ask new Coach?
Hamill mentioned the other day there were new appointments being mentioned around club then went quiet.
Gut feeling more to come .

So I take it Ashley Prescott is the Senior Assistant Coach that never happened? Sounds like a good trivia question.

if you read what is said about Watters and appointing PrescottHeidelberg_Saint wrote:So I take it Ashley Prescott is the Senior Assistant Coach that never happened? Sounds like a good trivia question.
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/a ... 18/page-26
".... Apparently one of the final straws came in the week leading up to Watters sacking when Watters reportedly went behind Pelchen's back and told Ashley Prescott that he had the job as one of his assistants next year, when Pelchen had said no to him, as has been mentioned a few times and was apparently being spoken about again last night on SEN. Tellingly, Prescott will not be with us next year, which would suggest that this was something else that was on the money about what has been reported.
If this alone is true then it is proof that Watters was not willing to stick to his job description that the club had apparently made very clear to him following our internal review and that it was time to part ways. One of the newspapers also alluded to someone that we were in talks with to get on board as a major sponsor only restarted their negotiations once we'd sacked him and I'm told that was because he did something that they were so unimpressed with and thought was so unprofessional that they contacted the club to tell them about it...."
he won't be officially appointed.

apparently ash turned up to the club and was marched away

Micale gone now, Max, Doyle, Laidley gone, plus 2 more staffers going. More negativity from the press!

Good. When you get a new coach you want the previous assistants gone. That's how most clubs run. That bit is normal venom.Verdun66 wrote:http://www.theaustralian.com.au/sport/a ... 6762829803

Re the sponsor a few posts up: apparently SW was bagging board members during a meeting. They then went back to the board.

Did not really expect Micale to stay since he was buddys with Watters, but am surprised about Hudgeton and Doyle.
Its also not surprising that the saints have not got on the front foot and put the news out yesterday to the media so it wouldn't be a big deal. Now it becomes one.

Not too bothered about Max going to be honest, wish him well in whatever he does next; Carlton? or perhaps back to Collingwood?

As previosuly posted, we can't headhunt anyone under contract (which is everyone by now), so we need new blood, or make do with what we have until next off-season. Either way, it's not ideal for a new coach coming in.

its a bit hard to make do, since there there would be very few left.
its a shame that the Saints did not advise us that it had happened and we have to again read these things in the newspaper.

Re: Who will be our new assistant coaches?
Max left during the season, no idea why. This is not news. Probably building houses with Stewie Loewe!
Saints need a decent ruck coach for Longer, Hickey, Lewis and Holmes. I hope we land someone better than Doyle. Someone like Brad Ottens, Darren Jolly or even Matty Primus.
On the Academy side, if St Kilda do not fill Micale's position by next season, that will be 2/3 seasons that the Academy has been in existence without a head!
