Re: Hatred of Victoria showing
The year was 2012.
Ken Hinkley had just completed his second season as an assistant coach at Gold Coast. He had insider knowledge of the operational plans of the club, and had just signed a new contract with them.
And yet the Suns released him. There were no meltdowns, no public tantrums shown by the president and supporters. They didn't activate their throngs of hacks and mental deficients to denigrate Port Adelaide. They dealt with it professionally and moved on.
And it's not just a hatred for Victoria. It's a hatred for us in particular, coming from all sides. I don't know when it happened exactly, but one day we became one of the most hated clubs in the league. Go read the news sites, read their comments sections. Go and talk to other footy fans. I hardly even mention I'm a Saints fan any more, it just invites the same old rehashed garbage.

Re: Hatred of Victoria showing
Complete A hole...players and staff are poached and move from club to club all the time - this just gives him something to write about ...there is virtually not a team out there with the same coach it had 4 years ago. If we wants morals think Freo Lyin, Adelaide/ Swans Tippett , Swans Buddy, Essendon, Blues Judd , Eddy writes his own rules, west coasts retired players issues with drugs, the list goes on..
The way I see it we are just playing the game - with the intention of improving our club and blokes like Graham Cornes mightn,t like that much

Re: Hatred of Victoria showing
Cornes - irrelevant. Like so many others.
When people come into your football club and show utter disrespect for the people who work for it, then the right thing to do is move them out of the club as quickly as possible. We did that with Blight. We stopped being dysfunctional when we stood up to the arrogant, lazy, disrespectful egomaniac. Once again, we have stood up to a person who was showing no respect to the people he was supposed to be working with.
Had we rolled over in both these situations, then we would have been dysfunctional.
As for chronically underachieving, we have the best win-loss ratio in the AFL over the past 10 years. In the 1990s we played finals in 5 0f the 10 years. From the early 60s to the mid 70s we were one of the more successful teams.
It seemed that people are determined to forever define us by the period of 1979 to 1986, and by the fact we have sacked a couple of media darlings.
Richmond have played 2 finals in 31 years and have had more coaches than us, yet somehow they have not been underachievers or dysfunctional.
Perception is a funny thing. Independent thinking is rare.

Re: Hatred of Victoria showing
Which other clubs are re affecting? Thought it was just port adelaide. And they were happy to be bought off for a few shiney beads and gold coins.
Where were they 12 months ago, oh thats right morning the loss of a player who was off his head and fell from a building while on an end of season trip.
Whats that saying about those without sin to cast the first stone.
Stop smashing us media, we dont deserve it

Re: Hatred of Victoria showing
Watters was sacked when he needed to be sacked. That just happened to be early November.
I think credit should be given to St. Kilda for trying to help Watters by clarifying just what it was that he needed to change in order to continue in the roll. It's a pity that Scott just wasn't going to modify his approach.
As for Port, it wasn't about them. St. Kilda hasn't at any point set out to screw over the Port Adelaide FC. St. Kilda set out to hire what they perceived as the best person for the job. He happened to be at Port at the time. Does it inconvenience them? Yep. It's okay for them to say so too, and then get on with the task of replacing him.
However, they are not doing themselves any favours by issuing a protracted stream of "Wah, Wah, Wahs". They are in fact putting in place an excuse for failure 2014. It's OK for Port to underachieve in 2014 because big, bad, St. Kilda stole Richo.
Time for Port to suck it up and stop blubbing.

Re: Hatred of Victoria showing
if Port weren't so upset then maybe Richardson would be of lower value.
he was clearly a much appreciated and even perhaps much needed cog part, and now he is gone they are grappling with it. emotional business footy. so I see this as evidence we got a good'n'.
and now the guy doesn't have to re-locate his family, and is at the facility in 30 minutes down the eastlink. a result.
if so called writers want to get on the St Kilda band wagon who cares, it only shows up their unoriginality.

Re: Hatred of Victoria showing
So it would have been okay to poach Choco because it wouldn't inconvenience them? Oh I thought he was talking about morals.
Just in case you tread on any feet you should only ever stick with the people you have and never recruit in from outside. We should get people outside football so we don't make any ripples down into VFL or Ammos clubs. We should get school leavers only though as they might inconvenience their employers otherwise.

How would we have acted if the shoe was on the other foot?
Just a question?
Personally I wouldn't have given a stuff, and actually been happy for the fellow for getting a senior gig?! You should never deny someone of promotion and aspiration for your club own needs...
The industry should support people getting to top positions wherever possible?
Two things
1-At the end of the day it was still Alan's decision to move... We offered him a job, didn't force him to vacate his position at Port.... If he was happy, he would have stayed... But ultimately when opportunity knocks its up to him... And it may never knock again either?
2- why do we give a s*** about Port... I hope they are inconvenienced, I wouldn't have compensated them 1 cent.... All is fair in love and war... And if Alan wanted to join StK.... Stiff s*** port IMO .... Or if you are so keen to keep him, offer him the senior coaching position he is after... Either way, why are we concerned about their inconvenience?!

Revolutionary succession planning by Saints.
When we interview for coaches we short list 3, one for Immediate use and 2 understudies for WHEN not IF the first fails.
Talk of us suing understudy number one (Hinkley) for going over there and stuffing up our very strategic planning!

We should ask for compo for Laidley going to carlton or that manicurist we sent to Collingwood as their conditioning guy if we are going down the path of stopping promotion.

Re: Hatred of Victoria showing
"Moronity" certainly runs deep in this Korny family.
Graham's wife Nicole is well known for her attempt to stand at the Kevin 07 federal election as the ALP candidate for Boothby.
As a "celebrity" candidate it soon became apparent from a couple of disastrous media interviews that she knew NOTHING about the details of ANY ALP policy.
The party had to quickly slap a ban on her doing any media and just hope her pretty face and footballing surname carried the day.
But it was too late to save her doomed campaign.
She is also famous for being caught stark naked wandering around a hotel after a Hall of Fame footy function claiming she had mistaken the door to her room for the bathroom!
And then there is Mick Molloy's famous Stewart Dew / Nicole Cornes joke.

Port are just doing the classic bullied becomes the bully thing. They hope that they have overcome the negativity shown towards them and in an attempt to make sure they don't get bullied again single out the kid who is socially below them for some rough treatment.
They will f%$# up next season and the heat will go back on them. The dumb fat kid has sampled some fleeting popularity and it's gone to his head. But at the end of the day he still lives in a caravan in Snowtown and the popular kids in the media will come for you again Kochie and Corn.
They will cry it was our fault but Caro "Butcher" Wilson will kick them in the nuts repeatedly until they know their place again.
