Footy First are finished - where are the challengers?
Pretty clear the current board are a joke and their time is up.
Any whispers of a challenge anywhere?
The timing now would be perfect considering where the club is at both on and off field. We've got little to lose and potentially a new professionally run ticket to gain.
Enough is surely enough.

Re: Footy First are finished - where are the challengers?
They've put all of the eggs in Chris Pelchin's basket.
I'm not sure they've completely fallen over yet, but they have certainly taken a couple of stumbles in recent weeks, apparently due to their backing of Pelchin.
I'd think we, as members, should let the dust settle on a new coach and new president for this season, and give some opposition "tickets" time to muster up a decent fight, then see how we sit in 11 months time.

The charter was to find a new coach and they did, what is the issue, if Choco proved to be a loony tune then even better they pursued and attained Richo man as coach.saintspremiers wrote:Pretty clear the current board are a joke and their time is up.

Re: Footy First are finished - where are the challengers?
SP do you ever entertain the possibility that a board spill on top of all the other issues may JUST harm the prospects for the club? If I remember rightly the previous board (Rod Buttocks, Archie Fraser & co) were the ones that "negotiated" the club away to Seaford. The Footy First ticket saw us making two Grand finals and gaining respect. Fair comment that the SW appointment turned pear shaped but turfing the board out now would just be the icing on the cake for those in the media who label us a "basket case" and worse. It almost seems to me at times that there are folk who (claim to) support St Kilda FC but are never happier or more active on SS than when there's gloom and doom to be spread around, almost gives them a reason to be (so-called) "Saints supporters"
St Kilda forever ( God help me)

I'm quite happy with the club at the moment.
It all looks to be moving forward very positively for mine.

We need to stop splashing in the water squealing and get back to smooth sailing. This board has pretty much gambled on Richo being better than Watters. If Richo is a disaster the current admin will be gone. In the mean time we just have to pay our memberships and hope Richo is the greatest coach in history.

Things aren't perfect, but we've got a coach again, we recruited well still, and we've still got 3 good picks coming up in the draft.
Carry on.

We have the right board for the times and now we've got the right coach. The right CEO and it's onwards and upwards!

Your posts about the board are just getting stupid now. I get the opinion ...blah blah...your entitled to it...blah blah...but it's pretty clear you have no idea whether the board is good or bad. Nor would you know what a board needs to do, or how they should do it.

Sorry Jigster for having a differing opinion of the shambolic way our club is run. At least we surely can't go any lower than this, and as Caro says, the AFL are having a say in how we are run which is a good thing. Sort of like board control by the AFL so maybe I'm getting what I want in a round about way!

Re: Footy First are finished - where are the challengers?
A board can just evolve, as many clubs do and have,
Not every change has to be a challenge situation
The St Kilda board is now quite differant to the one which was there 6 years ago, some commonality but continuance and history are relevant

Not really that different ... both boards excel at eating into their finances in paying people out who leave the Club.saintbrat wrote:A board can just evolve, as many clubs do and have,

Re: Footy First are finished - where are the challengers?
What sort of half-wit starts a thread like this one?
Honestly?
Do some research. Get a clue.
The original 'Footy First' board was:
Greg Westaway
Nathan Burke
Andrew Thompson
Simon Grant
John Gdanski
Ross Levin
The ONLY directors left from that board are Burke and Thompson.
The rest of the current board are entirely independent - they are not "aligned" as a ticket, and people like Jack Rush QC and Paul Kirk are very strong minds who have no allegiance to each other at all.
They are just a group of very talented and successful people who have come together in unity to run the club.
Exactly what a good board should be.
We have easily one of the most experienced, well-connected boards in the AFL. Compare the achievements and success of our current directors to many other clubs and you will come away impressed and respectful of their position.
Don't mouth off like an idiot and give Caroline Wilson her next headline.
You know why there's been no whiff of any challenge?
Because people who aren't muppets like you and who have dealt with the current board behind the scenes realise their expertise and capability.
