He is the head of footy.... Which apparently means he runs the club.... Not sure why we even need a coach to report to him? If he knows so much, have the balls and do a 'thomo' and take charge!
He probably understands his strengths and weaknesses… recognises that specific roles need a specific skill set.
He manages a football department, different to a match day coach.
Am very happy with the Richardson appointment I believe he will make an accretion all coach at our club. Having said that I would have been happy with Choco but Richo is probably a better option for a long term choice!

He is in an unhealthy position at the club.... One which is always gonna put him at odds with the senior coach?!
The coach has a career reputation to consider... So he will want to implement what he believes (through experience) will be successful....
To answer to a bloke who has never sat in the hot seat or indeed anyone... Is dangerous. Coaches job is always on the line, therefore he pulls the strings....

Lets face it, 90% of this place said the same thing about Scott Watters. But for me, I have lost faith with the board.

But we have turned down a premiership coach for an untried coach so he better be good.
And don't buy into this bulls*** about Choco only wanted a 5 year deal.

Yep that's true, but my thoughts re. The Board, are still current. The old board got Lyon, Our current board, got rid of him.

This reeks of amateur hour - why we've appointed an untried coach again over a proven Premiership coach with good development pedigree is mystifying
Am really questioning the professional abilities if those on this board - I don't care if they were Saints greats or not

I too am not convinced at all on this decision - IF it ends line Watters I will look back on this complete Board as abject failures and want them replaced.
Bizarre events that only our club could turn into a leaking media farce.
Maybe it is the media that are the farce.....................making their own headlines and content that is subjective etc
Looks like Williams was plan b all along, and Richardson was finally persuaded.
All due diligence had been done previously... though I guess you've gotta wonder what made them choose watters over him in the first place.
Also looks like it was port that did the leaking as he would've told them first, before signing, before any other candidate was notified, so what else could St Kilda do but state that we still didn't have a coach?

Actually for what it is worth I don't think you had it wrong think Williams was the one they were looking at .
But there has been some reflection by the president & the board on this .
Question was Williams the best option long term .
Is there somebody else that if they became available would be a better long term prospect.
Think they found their prospect . I actually like it and was pro Williams but that was also because Richardson was not
in the picture . Really like the process myself they knew what they get with Richardson been in the system a long time.
The big thing the club has to do now is sell Alan to the members as Choco would have been a lot easier but just maybe
they got the long term decision right .

Richardson by all reports is the best regarded asst coach in the industry.
So STOKED we got him!
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

I have an idea.............I know some may think its crazy, but just hear me out: Why not accept that the board have decided that Mr Williams is not the successful candidate for the position of senior coach at the St Kilda Football Club, and have opted for Mr Richardson. Why not put aside preconceptions/assumptions/presumptions about what kind of working relationship the new coach (whoever it may be) will have with Mr Pelchen. Has ANYONE here entertained (for even a nano second) that the coach and head of football may JUST become a great combination? Is that kind of thinking allowed here? Or do I have to become one of those who see nothing but gloom ahead? Don't worry, it won't deter me from sticking fast with the club, I've had to sit near to these sorts at the game from time to time. I'm backing the coach whoever it is! I'm backing the CLUB!
