Would prefer Williams. I defer to Jaxons prediction

Three alternatives come to mind.

1. Richardson is an elaborate ruse to make us all feel better that we didn't get Choco because he was the only available, credible option.

2. Richardson is an elaborate ruse to make us all feel better that this wasn't really predetermined 6 weeks ago, and that Watters was knifed with Choco waiting in the wings.

3. Richardson hasn't yet resigned from Port Adelaide. So the club can't confirm anything.

The suspense is killing me. I hope the Age is correct about an announcement tonight or tomorrow morning.

Don't have anything against Choco, just prefer Richardson.
Based on what, I don't know, just a preference.
This

...except for me, it's based on Williams being more of a gimmick IMO
Interesting opinion. Why?

I would have thought that a guy who has coached a team to an AFL Flag, and who had a sustained period at the top PLUS who has had good reviews as an assistant coach at several AFL clubs would have had at least some credibility?

Whether one thinks hew is the best person for the job is another matter, but to rate him as a gimmick???

Also need to consider that the club would like to make this important announcement at a properly arranged Press Conference rather than just putting out a statement or "tweeting" the news.

So the coach may well have been selected and contracts signed etc and we may just have to wait for tomorrow for it to be confirmed.

If Richo has done a back flip you'd have to say that Williams has not got what he wants whereas Richardson who still does not command top dollar may have had an offer that was too good to refuse for a guy at his level. I can't see why someone who was knocked back last time would come back again if there was no assurance of getting the position. Either way its good to see that we have not put all of the eggs in one basket without trying to speak to the best possibles available.

We still won't know for sure until Monday.

TBH, I'm not very excited about the appointment of either of the two. Both are former Collingwood players. Enough said.

I was thinking the same. I think that I read somewhere that Richardson's family is still in Melbourne. If that is so, it would be a good reason for him putting himself up for the job again .... just saying.

It's all trial by media. Possibly all garbage what's happened today.

4. Our media advisors are begging us not to announce anything until Milney's committal hearing finishes, in a sensible but likely unsuccessful effort to avoid the two subjects appearing in the same media stories ...

Good point regarding the Milney issue as it really does hamper a good upbeat result for the club. Unfortunate Milney has this to go through right at the same time. The media vultures would have a feast.
