Don't like him, but maybe Finey was right all along.....Dr Spaceman wrote:MEDIA RELEASE November 13, 2013 11:15 AM

Very sound choice if it came to that.

Re: Richardson back in the race!
Hmmm interesting. I got the impression from this morning's Age article that he was resisting doing the full presentation, but was not completely ruling it out.
My vote is still with Williams, but Richardson really could be anything. Anywhere from Lyon to Watters, and anything inbetween. Is regularly talked up though, he must be doing something right.

I didn't bet but I'd be pissed off if we get the steak knives because contract talks with Choco broke down.bob__71 wrote:I get the feeling that a few forum members have just done their dough.
Smelling Like the Lyon negotiation failure in 2011.

There you go Mr Rucci. You know SFA.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

I bet you he gets the job. I reckon the decision will come down to terms.

Re: Richardson back in the race!
Richardson was a target the whole time, they just didn't think he was available.
Just shows what can happen when you keep asking.
Sounds like he's now almost over the line.

And to think the Saints wasted two bloody years with Watters his name.

Re: Richardson back in the race!
Why sound Williams out before you sack Watters and then baulk at his terms. Just seems strange that we would push someone to coach the club ho wasn't interested 24 hours ago. Wreaks of penny pinching for mine.

We do have a solid history of stuffing up coaching deals. That is a fact.

Correct. I don't have any idea. Which is why I'm not making grand statements about what the club is doing or not doing. And if I did no something I probably wouldn't share it here
BTW I was in no way trying to be rude to Kernal.

Perhaps the 5 year deal Choco wants has rightly caused some concerns ?

Re: Richardson back in the race!
Hopefully, whichever coach we go with will be clearly explained where his role begins and ends - he will need to understand "the structure", and agree to work within it.
Maybe, the structure and the coach's role should even be written into the contract?
The coach should know what is expected of him and what he's taking on - right from the start.

Re: Richardson back in the race!
I assume Richardson went through the full job interview last time with all the testing etc so I can understand why he wasnt too keen to go down that path again - especially if he thought it was a fait accompli with Williams.St Chris wrote:Hmmm interesting. The club must have already had a fair idea of what Richardson was offering as he came 2nd to Cuddles in the first process.
It sounds like Cuddles was a bit of a con/confidence trickster who comes across very well in interviews and might be a good assistant but lost his marbles trying too hard to be the 'big dog'.
We need someone comfortable in their own skin who is firm and fair and consistent. Not some little dog out to prove hes a big dog.
Hopefully Richardson is a more solid individual, more secure and doesnt feel a need to artificially be 'tough'.

Don't believe that was the case with Blighty at all - I believe he was originally on the coaching selection panel. It all went pear shaped from there!Life Long Saint wrote:Because that worked well the last time we tried that!Legendary wrote:Richardson was a target the whole time, they just didn't think he was available.

I recall the president, CEO, GT and some senior players flying to the Gold Coast to entice him South!
