Harvey, Robert
Left the club disgruntled after not being interviewed in 2011, but
Met with the club and turned down an interview siting he was 'not ready' for a senior job?
Strange?

Re: Harvey, Robert
Has he actually said he was disgruntled?
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Maybe he reads Saintsational
It seems that now seeing what it takes to be a coach for a few years that he has had a reality check since 2011

A lot of these things are bandied about, but the question is valid; was he actually disgruntled, or did someone in the media presume this?PJ wrote:Has he actually said he was disgruntled?

he was disgruntled in 2011. In 2011, whilst the media was hanging st Kilda again for not picking Harvey, it took him 3 weeks to come out in the media to say anything.
This time it was done completely different, and saved face on both parties.

I heard him say it was all blown out of proportion and it wasn't an issue.
Holder of unacceptable views and other thought crimes.

It was widely reported he wasn't happy about not even being considered in 2011?

Harvs was never disgruntled with the StKFC so that is all garbage talk as is usual amongst the media and the less intelligent on this site.BigMart wrote:Left the club disgruntled after not being interviewed in 2011, but

He realised that he could make a fool of himself if he took on the Head Coaching role without complete experience - that's why he went to Carlton and then Collingwood to learn the trade.
When he is ready, he'll be back coaching the Saints as a Head Coach.

I for one reckon he should be ready now. A big danger as far as I am concerned, is that Collingwood end up with him as their head coach.

Re: Harvey, Robert
Is that a fact or simply your opinion ? Considering Burkie was heavily involved in the selection panel I believe Banger was fully informed and he accepted the advice that he needed to get some experince outside the club. Not for one moment did I think Banger left the club disgruntled - I believe he is a bigger person than that.BigMart wrote:Left the club disgruntled after not being interviewed in 2011, but

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Re: Harvey, Robert
A few months back I spoke with a ex saints champion who played with Burkie and Banger for most of his career. We were watching our sons run around in the Dragons Development squad, and I brought up the Harvey Question. He told me that Harves was very upset with the fact that he interviewed for the job but the Saints never had any notion of offering him the job, it was just out of courtesy that they let him interview. He may be over it now but back then be was not happy with some people he considers mates.

Re: Harvey, Robert
My info is that Harvey was disappointed in 2011 but not bitter or disgruntled - just disappointed in the sense that he has a desire to do whatever he can to help the Saints.
My understanding is that in a professional sense he understood the decision and he left the Saints only because he didn't believe that his desire to coach us would be advanced by working with Watters and staying at club. At the time I heard a rumour that he didn't rate Watters - maybe there was more to that now than we realise?
A lot of conflicting stories...

Re: Harvey, Robert
Harvey would feel a lot of pressure if he was offered the job now as a former club champ, as Watters was supposed to be stand-out performer and apparently failed, so if Harvey took over and failed miserably, then his career in a coaching capacity would compromised. In contrast, Williams has a record of ultimate success, and if he fails to get results, then he can just put his hands up, walk away and know he has a premiership under his belt as coach, and that can never be denied.

Widely reported by whom? I'm not dissing you I'm just really sceptically about the amount of rumour that becomes fact through he said she said.BigMart wrote:It was widely reported he wasn't happy about not even being considered in 2011?

OMG the club just completely f$#@ed something else up. What's the point going on, someone go down there with some matches and put them out of their misery. Someone stick CJ out the front with a dwarf effigy doused in petrol now.

Do you have something from Banger himself, or just memories of trash talking journos trying to make a story out of nothing?
Harvey missed out and wisely moved on.

yes, he said that, but it took him over three weeks to come and say that. . If he wasn't disgruntled, he could have said it a lot sooner. The media bagged the club constantly at that time regarding harvey, and he didn't say anything to the media for over 3 weeks. just let them bag the club. Well, that's the way I saw it.
