Passion

Something our club has been deprived of the last few years, which was once our trademark.

Do you think choco will cop being fisted up the a$$ by umpires? I look forward to those press conferences

Yes I agree with that, at least we will know that if we get bent over by the umps like we did against west toast then he will certainly stand up for the club something that's been lacking

I love this club

How many clubs can you have a passion about.

His proven ability to work with Pelchin - we've had 2 coaches depart amid strong rumours of "disharmony in the footy department". The board have seemingly given Pelchin full control, no point having a senior coach continually butting heads with him.

Also, Choco's ability to give a spray is up there with the best of them, I reckon a few of the boys could have used a really decent spray over the last couple of years.

Would rather you said the ability to work with Steven, Armo, Stanley etc. Bit sick of hearing about an administrator.

Just throwin this out there, if he has no love for the club, but is simply driven by the need to satisfy KPI's, this should be fantastic as he will go with the brain and not the heart.
Passion can maybe cloud judgement- can't see the forest for the trees.
Maybe he won't worry the old guard with SW's "mediocre" jibes,
Chocko might just let the frickin past stay in the past.
Look at the stuff he can control, the here-and-now, and how him and his
BFF Herr Pelchen can shape the future.
Cold, clinical, results driven, not sugar-coated.
If he and P are holding hands and singing from the same songbook,
Then Pelch will have his back, no snide rumours or leaks to Finey, everyone happy in Seaford,
onwards and upwards.
Plan/vision/big luv-in.
wow, I'm liking it already :D

Pretty narrow field to choose from mid November…

I certainly prefer him to Ratten, Voss, Knights, Ayres & even Harves at this stage.

Williams has been praised for his recent work guiding young players at GWS and now Richmond, he's experienced, many finals and a flag…

Who would better I guess is the question?

So if the next coach doesn't get on with Pelchen, we go through all of this again.

270 odd games as coach 150 odd wins

2 grand Finals

1 premiership

Not terrible

When was his last official game as coach? They say the game evolves monthly, let alone the years since he last coached. I'm saying OLD SCHOOL.

Heavily involved in Development and Match Day coaching over the last couple of years. His development work will be ideal in our current position, and Match Day should be fine. Why not? He will be up with all the latest stuff. Hasn't been hiding under a rock exactly.

Most of the other options haven't been an head coach yet. He only stopped in 2010? (correct me if I am wrong).

He has been an assistant since, he hasn't been away from the game.

Rather someone who has a history of success than a complete unknown... especially one who has been proven to build a list and develop players, can you say that about any of the other candidates?

Sure, getting along with Pelchen shouldn't really be a criteria but it's clear that it has to be, why risk another poor relationship between Pelchen and the coach?

Does it evolve that much? Can people not evolve with it.....

Parkin 1978, 1995
Jeans 1966, 1989
Malthouse 1992, 2010
Matthews 1990, 2004
Kennedy coached 60's then mid 80's
Barassi 60's and mid 90s
Hird was out of the game with no experience
Roos 2005.... Out 2011 Melbourne 2014
Blight had a gap 94-97

Choco has been involved with the game every year since 2010, his last season as coach....

Clubs wanted those big names from the past. i don't think williams is in their class. not many clubs have been knocking on choco williams door over the last few years to become number 1 coach

2010 his last gig as senior coach, correct?
Since then, he would have less pressure by having a lower job, but still digesting all tactics/strategies, building up his knowledge base, without constant stress of the main gig.
So he's immersed himself 100%, and could possibly feel ok to step up again, taking all the lessons he's learned, to put his own branding on it, knowing he's succeeded before when the knives were out...
I'm betting he's older, wiser, not cocky like maybe SW may have been?
New challenge beckons?
Voss may have baggage. Something to prove.
Just wild guesses on my part.

What's the prognosis with Kingsley?

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Forget Choco unless oversees Robert Harvey.
