Interviews weren't held at the club. But one of the coaching selection panel did have a little look around Seaford earlier.
Re: Williams is the target
Would be really disappointed if it is Kingsley. Nothing against him at all. We just need a strong person right now and that should be choco.

I think pretty much the opposite.spot on wrote:Would be really disappointed if it is Kingsley. Nothing against him at all. We just need a strong person right now and that should be choco.
How good would Kingsley have to be to get it?
He'd have to knock them out!

How's that going Tony? I'm assuming we're looking at a management gig, although we do have an assistant coaching role going begging as well.tony74 wrote:Interviews weren't held at the club. But one of the coaching selection panel did have a little look around Seaford earlier.
I am very in favour of our bald headed friend in any role he wants. Even CEO. I know he has been toeing the AFL line of late and boring the pants off some, but frankly as we need as much $ as they will give, anyone who speaks "Demetriou" as well as having had a media role (and therefore media skills) is a bonus. And if they happen to be a former premiership captain looking to relocate back to a Southern bayside climate, I say roll out the red carpet ...

Would that be an ex-Geelong captain. It was rumoured yesterday that he may be being considered for the CEO position.tony74 wrote:Interviews weren't held at the club. But one of the coaching selection panel did have a little look around Seaford earlier.

I would hope not as he has virtually no suitable business experience to make him ready to be a CEO.GeorgeYoung27 wrote:Would that be an ex-Geelong captain. I think that entry also misses the bit where he has been the AFL's General Manager for NSW and ACT for the past couple of years, the gig he just resigned from with the AFL's blessing.SainterK wrote:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Harley

So whilst he may not have traditional commercial business experience, as you say K, not entirely ignorant. And possibly nothing a good CFO couldn't balance. Certainly has had some exposure to trying to promote GWS in a difficult market.

Tom Harley is the man we need!!!Buckets wrote:What qualifications does he have?
Oxford education.
Corporate development for BHP... now there's a real company. Knows how to find 'a way' to get things done.
Great grandson of our second PM, Alfred Deakon.
Very connected within the (once was) Liberal party - the current governing mob in both Victoria and Federally.
On the Board of the Melbourne Zoo - the Moorabbin restoration will of course need a proper Animal Enclosure.
Best of all... chairs the admissions committee of The Melbourne Club! Just watch our membership sky rocket when we are able to offer a unique affiliate rights package with every adult male St Kilda FC membership sold!
It's Dave, man. Will you open up? I got the stuff with me! -------Who?

That's a reason to incarcerate him not recruit him.

Hilarious. But I think we might be stuck with the bald one who knows which end of a football to kick. Then again, another AWB-like scandal somewhat fits our recent media aspirations ...Dave McNamara wrote:Tom Harley is the man we need!!!Buckets wrote:What qualifications does he have?

Harley would be a great appointment. A very smart and professional man. In saying that, he lives in Sydney and I can't see him being too interested in the job. Where did the rumour come from?

Re: Williams is the target
I've always liked Harley in the media. Not biased and a solid citizen. We could do a lot worse and if he is to be an AFL appointee well, as somebody else said, at least they will get a good picture of the field we are having to compete in. Even better that the AFL 2Ic is a saints supporter.

Did they have Alan Scott on video link up saying he would never get the gig?
So did we interview Choco, McPhee and Kingsley? Wow, crack field that.
Re: Williams is the target
Tom Harley would have to be the youngest CEO in the afl, I think he would be great thou. Terrific leader and sounds like a good bloke. He has recently quit his role is Sydney too
