"Bruce worked closely with Williams at GWS in 2011 before the 2004 Port Adelaide coach moved to Richmond in a development role. He is just one of a handful of high quality candidates whose name has been floated in the media as a possibility to take over the reins.

“He (Williams) is a really good teacher of young players and I think he would be really suitable for this group as well as many other coaches who have been thrown up there,” Bruce said. “If Choco [Williams] were to come here to the Saints then he would be welcomed with open arms. I’d love to be under his tutelage again, he is a fantastic.”

Bruce played 14 games for GWS across two seasons, including 11 in 2013, and admitted he was taken aback by St Kilda’s approach during October’s trade period.
