Can I just remind people that it is the 6th November!
We don't play our first game until 22nd March!
That's five months away!

There is absolutely no point being buff and super fit now!

Same for Jack Newnes (shoulder) and Sippos
also i hear there was more focus put on the guys to get their endurance and running ability up over the break ... i think the days of Big Fraser Gehrig sized arms over summer are a think of the past its all about explosive speed and unrelenting endurance over bulk

Carl Peterson (born 3 July 1987) is an Australian rules footballer, who formerly played in the Australian Football League (AFL) with the Hawthorn Football Club.

Peterson was born in Meekatharra, Western Australia and moved to Kununurra when he was two, before moving to Perth to finish Year 12, where he trained and played football with the Clontarf Football Academy. He was then recruited by Claremont Football Club in the Western Australian Football League (WAFL).[1] He played five games for Claremont in 2006, including two finals.[2]

Peterson was originally drafted by Richmond in the 2006 AFL Draft. He was a fourth round pick, number 60 overall, but he was delisted by the Tigers at the end of the 2007 season without playing a game. Following this, he joined Northern Territory Football League (NTFL) club St Mary's and was in the Saints' 2007/08 premiership side. He was then redrafted into the AFL by Hawthorn with the 61st overall of the 2009 Rookie Draft.[3]

He made his AFL debut in the opening round of the 2010 AFL season and performed well, kicking a goal and gathering 15 disposals in the first half before copping a heavy knock early in the second half.[4] He played seventeen games for Hawthorn, all in 2010.

In 2012, Peterson signed to play for the Victorian Football League's Northern Blues.[5]

Would make an interesting selection perhaps a rookie pick ?

Did Delaney train today Tony74 ?

He was a gun Peterson. I watched the Hawks play one day with a mate and he'd only played a couple of games and this guy looked close to BOG in a side with all the Hawks stars in it. I can't remember why he left but he was not short on talent. He took some really strong grabs and used it like a surgeon. Exciting type.

He is not a gun at all. Average footballer and means nothing that he is training with us. Surely we are better to have a crack at unproven players as rookies. We now have plenty from other clubs. Id rather try and fail than take the soft option of another recycled player.

Maybe then he will extract the digit and actually get to his potential.

After one training session? Yep that sounds good.

Very surprised at the lack of size with a number of the boys - looks like they have not touched a weight in the off season. Hopefully the new fitness guy can put a rocket under them as strength is a key factor in their improvement...
Geez people, it's only day 1 of pre-season! What would be the point of killing yourself, bulking up in the gym over summer only to come back and lose it all with the huge amount of running that goes on over pre-season? From an injury-prevention (soft tissue) point of view, it would be ludicrous to instruct players to do this.

That was under Watters. Worked well.

Nah, re Sippa he's shown nothing last season. Maybe a proper coach will help??

Thanks Tony74 and grrrr for the link.

There's a video up the website now. Holmes is absolute huge. In fact, overall in this group we look tall. Thank God.

Newnes and Dunell used to look like twigs but both - yes, even Dunell - seem stronger looking to me. And Curren and White look amazing (think my son and I might hang onto the number 18 guernsey after all).

And yes, it's only November …

On the website, I noticed Pierce on the Senior list. I doubt that is significant given that Dal seems to have been given the number 15 … ?! I guess they'll fix it up in due course (a few other things happening, it seems)

Would you be doing weights at Golds Gym if you were in Vegas or would you be enjoying your holiday?

Pierce has been on the Senior List since the 2012 AFL draft...

2012 AFL Draft

Pick 24: Nathan Wright, Dandenong Stingrays
Pick 40: Brodie Murdoch, Glenelg
Pick 43: Josh Saunders, Geelong Falcons
Pick 75: Lewis Pierce, Dandenong Stingrays
Pick 90: Sam Dunell (rookie upgrade)

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

It's a HUGE ask for this guy to pick up the skills and tempo of AFL.
But if he does he could be anything with that physique and agility.
