Our club is becoming a boys club again.
I think the opposite. Nettlefold was a boys club appointee and is being moved on as he is not really up to it.
Westaway was a boys club president who wasa waste of several years. Summers is much more switched on.
Pelchen is hardly a "boys club" personna.

I would not be surprised if harves comes back at all.
Harves should only come back if he is considered to be the best person to be the Coach (or another assistant coaching role).
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....

I hope it's not Harves, yet, i'd like to see Tudor or Richardson, however, they may well turn out to be good assistants and nothing more, we won't know until they are given a go.
At least they haven't been tutored my Malted Mick.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?
Not sure what he's really achieved since coming, that gives him such credibility, he's made list changes yes..... Are many confirmed successes..... Should I list all the comings and goings since he's arrived.... And the results along with it?

Who recruited TDL and Hickey?
How do you know, Mr know it all, that Hickey will be a flop ?

Has Hickey already failed. Seriously when will you stop? BTW I have hardly read anyone who has said they have blind faith in Pelchan but unlike you most seem to hope it will work. The other choice is to be a complete whinger in every post. It seems you made the other choice.
I don't believe what I'm about to post.
BUT
I really miss the persona of 'rodger'.
The poster who's seemingly taken on the role of 'whinging stirrer' lacks the intellect of 'rodger' and makes the forum a worse place to visit, IMHO

What club has 100% success rate with ALL its recruits? None I would suggest, so nothing unusual about a few duds along the way. It strongly appears that for the last two seasons, we have been seeing the bad old St Kilda, where everyone is on their own agenda as a result of woeful weak direction from the top.
The president, board and CEO had allowed an environment to exist where an under-achieving playing group can influence directors about coaches/ failed to implement a strong management structure...and what was in place largely has under-achieved/ used a flawed and convoluted recruitment process for the senior coach, and then recruited an unsuitable candidate/ failed to communicate direction- vision (if any) with tiers of management including the coaches..and so it goes on. The result is what we have today. I sincerely hope for all Saints supporters, that Mr Summers and co., see sacking Watters as step 1, in a total rebuild at the club.

In your eyes, sack the board and fold the club. At least the worst player ever to pull on a St Kilda jumper can play somewhere else. Where do you make this s*** from?
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

The management structure is a joke....
Chris Pelchin is in a dangerous position and is a cancerous character I reckon.....
SW fell to bits, it seems.... A coach looking over their shoulder for Pelchins knife is always under the pump.
How the hell do we know that you're not the delusional apologist and everyone else has the balanced view. What makes you so right?

I think Hickey will come on in leaps and bounds now that he'll be shouldering more responsibility on match day.
Agree with TDL though...can't see much upside in him for what we need going forward.
perfectionist wrote:On the day that Chris Pelchen was appointed Head of Football at the Saints, Ross Lyon decided that his future lay elsewhere. Of all the AFL clubs, just one, the Saints, has the club coach as second in command. A quick click onto the Saints website will see it written in B&W. The Board, largely the current Board, got this hopelessly wrong. Other than a complete newbie, no self respecting coach would ever accept such a proposition.
Chris Pelchen made his "name" as recruiter for Hawthorn, but left Hawthorn in mysterious circumstances which have never been fully explained. There was no way that he was going to be viewed as the boss of the coach at Hawthorn, so maybe that was the reason. Today, Scott Watters reports to, and is answerable to, Chris Pelchen. At every other club, the coach is answerable to the Board and, therefore, the members.
Of course, there is a separate issue relating to the quality of the draft picks (2011,2012). Time will tell on those, although the current evidence is not good.
The Board must admit this organisational error, right it (I doubt Chris Pelchen would accept a demotion) and move on.
