Nice post Greg, I completely agree with your comments. After the trade period I'm convinced the club has a bright future. Pick the right coach to take the reigns and rapid improvement such as Port Adelaide's last season could ensue.Greg T wrote:Certainly not the end of the world by any means.
Deemed not to be the right person to take us forward.
Club is heading in the right direction IMO ,

How many coaches have been sacked after a 10 goal victory?

Re: Scott Watters sacked: Official SS reaction thread
This is so typical stkilda. There can't be a well managed, well planned transition to a new era.
The transition must begin with fire and ash. It must.
It is starting now with the the sacking of watters. Next year will be painful and miserable with losses galore.
Media types don't understand it. Caroline Wilson doesn't understand it.
It is just what we are. Drag you to the depths of despair and hopelessnes.

When you're reading a sentence you take a split second to read the next part. It's an impact thing the same way that separating sentences with a line gap is a visual impact and writing short phrases also tries to emphasise a point.St.Roly wrote:And why...can't you...write..a...sentence...without...an...ellipsis?plugger66 wrote:BigMart wrote:Because its so StK

Let's say you are listening to a voice-over (e.g. an ad on tv or radio). When the announcer does his slight pause that is when he wants to get your attention. That is the point where he wants to sell a message and that pause provides audible impact.
The very best announcers like John Laws and some actors like Michael Caton and John Stanton also use the technique perfectly.
On the other hand if you're constructing sentences the way you just did...it has negligible impact and it's meaningless....a bit like Stephen J Peake pretending to be an announcer (anyone heard him do radio ads -they're very funny because they are so horribly bad) but that's what you get from an amateur announcer.

It was a rhetorical question designed to emphasise the fact that the technique loses its impact when it is overdone.Scollop wrote:When you're reading a sentence you take a split second to read the next part. Agree with Thommo...we do it far to often
Dial-A-Quote Thommo. if the media wnat any reactio out of something that happens at the Saints just Dial-A-Quote Thommo. He will give you one. never mind the fact that he has not been a coach for the last 7 years. but still Dial-A-Quote Thommo and he will always give an opinion about the saints.

Re: Scott Watters sacked: Official SS reaction thread
sacking scott okay according to danny...
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/a ... 6752597206
"AFL Coaches Association boss Danny Frawley is comfortable with St Kilda's decision to sack Scott Watters, saying the club needed to act in its best interests.
Frawley, a former champion of the club who played 240 matches across 11 seasons, said while Watters' axing was unfortunate timing for both parties, the Saints did what they thought was best.
He said he believed St Kilda had lacked the "key pillars" in off-field leadership posts that rival clubs had been able to maintain over the past decade.
"At the end of the day, clubs really need to make the decision in the best interests of the football club," Frawley told SEN on Monday morning."

When we resort to worrying about grammar and spelling of a post, you know we are struggling with any real point!
The... Is really just a second to .... Think of the next sentance.... Not for any dramatic effect
I was unsure that rolling commentary on forums, was meant to be at a certain writing standard, I'll make sure I proof my posts more often and take more than 30 seconds to compile responses?.... Or not!

Just read the Connolly article. It makes sense, until you compare us to other clubs. How many clubs haven't changed coaches in controversial circumstances? It's AFL culture, not just Saints.
